Let me start by saying that I have never gone online to leave a bad review for a restaurant. I have worked in the food service industry in every capacity from dishwasher to server to bartender to general manager for 20 years and have dealt with the most trying of individuals. I have also attended Harold's Inn religiously since I was in my mother's womb and am currently 36. After my experience there tonight, I will never return. I am very disappointed to say that since I find their wings and taters addicting. I've continued to order their food for takeout weekly throughout Covid-19. I called today to make sure their dining room was open hours before coming. My wife and I only get one day a week where our schedules coincide to plan dinner out of the house. I was told to come on in as things weren't busy and I should be able to get a table quickly. Upon entering with my wife, I was immediately stopped at the front door and told I wasn't allowed in without wearing a mask by an extremely rude woman of about 50-60 years of age. Beaver County is in green and I've entered and eaten at restaurants in the last couple of weeks with no enforcement of a mask policy. I asked the hostess to clarify the policy and commented that the policy didn't really make sense since we would all be sitting unmasked together in the dining room. The woman proceeded to tell me off in a rude and sarcastic manner about how it was not only the owner's policy but the government's policy and that if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else. I stood there and looked at my wife in disbelief. The woman then saw the look on my face and proceeded to turn around and offer me a mask from a box behind her, which she could have done in the first place before taking a hostile attitude and almost pushing us out the door before we even made it to the dining room. I felt completely put off and my wife asked me several times after sitting down if I just wanted to go somewhere else. I said Harold's food is fantastic and one bad apple wasn't going to keep us from eating there on our date night. Until the hostess proceeded to head out the employee exit several times with different servers on their staff. My wife and I could hear the staff openly talking about us and laughing from about 10 feet away in the server station behind a wall. Several servers walked past smirking and giggling. I felt steam about to come out of my ears at the thought of spending money in this place while being made fun of openly by the staff. The experience made us so uncomfortable that we decided to get up and leave. As we walked towards the front door, the hostess told us in a very condescending tone to have a good night. I told her where she could go as the door closed behind me. Harold's Inn has been a favorite of my extended family for as long as I can remember. My parents and grandparents have brought large groups there well before I was born. Never again. The staff clearly doesn't understand customer service or basic decency....
Read moreFirst, let me start with the positives. The staff here is amazing! Every time I've been there, the server is extremely good. The managers will often check in during your meal as well. Very personable, friendly, and professional. Love the service. No complaints there.
The food is usually good. I have liked everything that I tried. They even have a gluten free menu! No complaints with taste or variety. I'm only giving two stars because I have gotten food poisoning here. Twice. The person eating with me during those occasions also got sick. Both times occurred during the spring/summer, which leads me to believe that they still have a small fly problem. I say "still" becuase the first time we became ill a fruit fly was buzzing around my moscato during the entire meal and we were indoors near the kitchen. When we left, small flies were all over the garbage can, which is also near the kitchen. That is incredibly concerning because small flies are vectors of disease and will fly from the toilet, to the garbage, to your plate, picking up substances and transferring them. Every time a small fly lands on your food you can be exposed to bacteria, parasites, and viruses that it picked up from garbage or toilets.
I would really love to eat here again, but after experiencing food poisoning twice, I do not think it's worth the risk. It really is a shame because it's a nice restaurant, they just need to get better pest control and make sure that their servers and cooks are practicing proper food safety...
Read moreFood is always good. The staff always friendly and helpful. I seem to somehow get the same young man always extremely friendly, though often times forgetful (new). I say this because I hear people complain as i sit there eating. I feel it's worth mentioning as well, that he came into work, he is fairly new, and if you ask again, instead of complain he will get you what you need. A little patience with the people who are working hard goes a long way in helping keep not only them working, but businesses open at this point. Harolds is one place I would like to see stay open, so please folks cut the new people some slack. (No I do not have any relation or affiliation with this business or its employees) Now on to the actual food... The food is very good. The breaded zucchini has a season salt that makes it a next level zucchini in no need of a dipping sauce of any kind (though one is provided). Just about everything on the menu is very tasty so you shouldn't be disappointed no matter what you get. I've had no complaints about any of the dinners I've had. While I personally haven't had the fried chicken I've had several people tell me the fried chicken is pretty salty. Good or bad that's up to you, just worth mentioning for those not fond of salt. I've had several people with me who have raved about the cheesecake ( again I've never tried). Apparently, as far as cheesecake is concerned their's is...
