The Village Restaurant — Restaurant in Hopkinsville

Just moved into the area after our retirement. Been looking for restaurants to replace our favorites in our old hometown. Covid has Limited that search. Now that things are starting to settle down we're checking out some of the local restaurants and this is definitely one to be reckoned with. Best pancakes I've ever had. Eggs cooked the exact way I like them and I even recognize their meat supplier, we use that business ourselves. Their breakfasts have earned them a place on our favorites list. Will likely try their lunch soon and can't wait until they start serving dinner. I understand that is in the works.  This was the first of what will likely be many more visits. 4/30/21 Update: Today was our fourth visit in the past couple of weeks. Two breakfasts and two lunches. We even took visiting family there for breakfast. Lunch was good as we expected. Prices excellent for a sit-down served meal. Overall food is consistently good and service is very good. Nothing fancy, just good home cooking. Looking forward to if and when they start opening for dinner. Looks like this will be a regular stop for us.

4/2/23 update: food is still excellent but sorry to say that the service has taken a downward turn. Frequently have had to ask multiple times for coffee refills. Sometimes they do it on their own but several times didn't get any at all. And occasionally slow to receive the food. Today we got there at about 9:15 and ordered an egg breakfast for my wife and an omelette breakfast for me. At 5 minutes to 10:00 we still had not seen our food. A man that came in about 10 minutes after we did and a family that came in about 20 minutes after we did got their food and we are still waiting for ours; it was time to go. One waitress argued with us that it depended on what we had ordered. I pointed out the family got omelets which is likely the most difficult breakfast and my omelette would not have been any more difficult than theirs but they got theirs after having arrived 20 minutes after we did. We will probably not return, even though this has been one of our favorite restaurants for 2 years. Not because of the occasional bad service, and as I said previously the food is still good. There's a lot of love in this establishment. It's definitely got that small town charm. I've been to The Village Restaurant 3 times now. I sit at the counter because I'm on my own. Not gonna hog an entire table for myself. Not that I saw anyone do that, I'm just happy the counter seating was available. That's worth a star! The servers are friendly enough. Of course, when they believe they're far enough away from the people, you can see in their face, they'd rather be somewhere else. I remember doing restaurant work. It can definitely be draining. Anywho. THE SIGNATURE PANCAKE! 🥞 I do recommend 👌👍 The steak and cheese omelet... has potential. I'd recommend an extra bit of cheese on top of the omelet. The cheese to other filling ratio was a bit off. The country fried steak, or Chicken fried steak in my Texan tongue. Is also very good. I do recommend. The cream gravy is very creamy, the brown gravy for the mashed potatoes is a bit on the saltier side. The fried green tomatoes could use a spicy ranch sauce for dipping. They didn't offer that. Just a thought. I'm sure I could have asked for ranch. The French Toast is perfect for when you get that French Toast craving. Quite satisfactory.

Best time is weekends for brunch.

I want to thank who ever owns the village restaurant because I like bringing my family down literally down the street for breakfast on today March 18th 2023 I don't know my waitress because I never been properly introduced to her I brought my grandchildren and there friends in for breakfast that they were looking forward to and the waitress treated again like we don't exist. The last time I was there one of the waitress ask do you want Felicia that was last Sunday about 10:30am I didn't say anything because I'm not going to allow the devil to use me in such way and today I gave my waitress her $3 tip and $1 for transaction and I always tip the ladies $3 bucks for the Father Son and the Holy Ghost but today she refused it again I don't know her and I'm a good customer I treat everybody the same and I will like to be treated better please thank you have a wonderful day with...
