Denny's — Restaurant in Horizon City

Usually my family and me don't mind waiting since we are 6 and usually the restaurant is full. Today we get here 15 min before 10am surprisingly the restaurant had 3 tables occupied. I was surprised that we would get a table quick. I was mistaken after standing in line for over 15 min and the cashier walking away with out acknowledging we were even there I was a bit thrown off. So we just continued to stand and wait more cashiers came and asked if he were waiting for a table we answered and she walked away. Mind you there are plenty of empty seats and tables still available and now there are 2 families also waiting to be seated. Another employee comes in and now starts a list to wait to be seated it has now been 5 more minutes and no table yet.. finally we get a table and our waiter Nicole throws the menu's at the table since I guess I inconvenienced her.. Nicole is great at attending to man at the restaurant since yes I was now seated but she preferred to take the order of the 2 man that just walked in vs me and my family that have been waiting for quite a while already. I love Denny's and like I said before have never mind waiting since we are 6 but when you see there is no one seating and have the kind of customer service I got from Nicole it really makes me not want to take my kids. I asked for another waiter because I really don't think we deserve the kind of service Nicole was providing. Yadira in the other hand was great helping my family and making sure we at least had utensils and a spoon for the coffee. Thank you so much Yadira for making a difference in my visit today. Located in the Flying J on Horizon BLVD in Horizon City, TX is this Denny's. Here is my revuew.

All in all, poor service IMHO. There was only ONE person to work the dining room, seat guests, and settle guest's bills. I waited about 20 to 30 minutes to be seated. The young man who was there would come out occasionally. Every time there was a guest who wanted to pay, he'd be there and then look me in the eye and say "about 5 minutes longer". Throughout this entire visit, there were loads of dirty tables of which none were cleaned bt this kid... We're not talking just wiping them down... We're talking dirty dishes from customers who've been gone some considerable time before I arrived. The kid also barely came around to ask how I was doing or to ask to refill my cup (or anyone else for that matter).

Let's move on to the food... Eh... It's standard Denny's. I had the Sirloin with squash and broccoli. I asked for queso for the broccoli and for them to eliminate as much water as possible on the broccoli (I usually receive the broccoli with loads of water from the steaming process, which causes the cheeses to just slough off). To which both happened. I also asked for the steak to be cooked medium. It was slightly overdone, but it was ok. Everyone knows that the ONLY somewhat uniform thickness steak they sell, is the T-Bone... Which I don't eat. The steak was tasty. The sweet tea sucked horribly. You could TASTE the soft water. Overall, the food was decent. If it wasn't for the fact that I was hungry and didnt want to eat Carls Jr, and the Flying Hook has horrible food in its own rite, I would...

Husband and I are team drivers and have stayed here in between loads. Came in for dinner last nite to find they were out of most everything we wanted to order. Was told last nite that their truck was arriving this am and things would be better. Came in this afternoon and hubby ordered fish (they were out of tarter sauce). He changed his order and I changed mine because yet again they had hardly anything.

I ordered a patty melt with no American cheese just Swiss. When it was delivered it had American cheese on it. I sent it back, when it arrived again, they just scrapped the American cheese off, beef patty all broken like it was meatballs and just added another piece of Swiss on it. You could clearly see it was done and my fries were swimming in grease!

However our waitress Vanessa was so polite and kind!!!!

We have eaten here many times and they always “are out of things”…. We find ourselves having to ask what they do have in order to place an order.

They seem to forever have cheese sticks so that’s a plus! But seriously how can you be out of so many things so often!!! Wouldn’t that be an ordering issue?!??

They waitresses are kind but sometimes the wait and lack of food choices make it disheartening to at the least.

After traveling all day or nite and ready for some down time it would be nice to know the menu is...
