First experience with Chi-Kin. I could see myself returning.
Used the toast online ordering software to schedule a pickup for 2:42. Arrived around 2:30 to see the food was bagged and waiting on the counter. If I were a dine-in guest, I would be ecstatic to have my food ready so fast! In a carry out situation, that 12 minutes at room temp could have been an issue had I arrived at the advertised pick up time. Neither a pro nor a con here. Just advise to the reader that this place runs quick based on my experience.
I ordered the tender bowl and paid 2$ for extra protein. This landed me at $17.00 before tax and tip for 3 tenders, rice and veggies. I’d say that’s average pricing for this area. There are certainly table service restaurants that offer more at comparable pricing. However, that’s a reflection of the fast-casual genre as a whole, and not Chi-Kin in particular.
I went with the Hot Gochujang - Spicy Korean Chili Sauce - Hot Heat sauce. It was exceptionally flavorful, albeit not in-your-face spicy as the name may suggest. However, I have a decently high tolerance for heat, so take this portion with a grain of salt. Presentation was nice, and my requests/modifications were met!
The restaurant was clean and well maintained. Decor-wise, basically just the old Burger-Fi that used to call the parcel home with a few extra bells and whistles.
Chi-Kin meets expectations when it comes to grab-and-go cuisine, and I could definitely see myself returning in the not-so-distant future. That chicken sandwich is calling my name...
Read moreOrdered nine tenders and kimchi slaw online to-go on a Wednesday afternoon. I’ll start by saying Chi-Kin probably has the my favorite chicken recipe and is primarily my main reason for ordering, but I have other concerns that should be addressed. The entire order was roughly $33, which is fair for the flavor and size of the chicken tenders, however the small bowl that the kimchi slaw came in was only half-filled, which was pretty frustrating considering it cost an extra $3. I ordered the tenders plain with sauce on the side so that they could be freshly sauced at home. That being said, the two 2oz mini containers of sauce were hardly enough for the entire order. I could stretch one container to about two tenders but that’s it. Collecting the order is a different experience every time—at the Mills 50 location, you’re asked to produce the credit card that the order was purchased with, but at Windermere, I have been asked to show proof of purchase online. This time around I wasn’t sure what I’d be asked, so I presented my phone and waited to be told what to do, but I was just asked for a name this time. Some consistency would be helpful. I love supporting local, but I think that Chi-Kin’s sides and service need to be stepped up to really take the experience to...
Read moreI usually don’t write reviews for places I only do takeout or delivery from because the quality can be hit or miss by the time you sit down to eat. But after ordering from Chi-Kin a couple of times, I’ve been impressed by how well the food holds up.
The chicken is the big draw here. We’ve ordered both the wings and the chicken tenders, usually through a family combo. We’ve tried both the large and smaller options, and you get a lot for the price. The larger combo left us with plenty of leftovers—definitely a great option if you want something that will last a couple of days for two people.
The sauces are also excellent. We’ve had the gochujang chili and the traditional gochujang—both amazing. The wings are still crispy by the time we open the box, and the tenders are large and filling.
The only downside is the sides. The portions are small compared to the amount of meat, and the selection isn’t huge. The first time we ordered, we got fries, corn, and rice. The second time, we stuck with rice and kimchi since the fries and corn are easy enough to make at home. Not a dealbreaker, though.
This is by far the best spot for wings and chicken tenders in the area. Please...
