So disappointed in the service at this restaurant. We went to the resort to celebrate my husbands birthday after a longggg work week and we were looking to celebrate and have a great time. We were literally the only people in the restaurant and we weren’t served for over 20 minutes. I had to wave the host over and mentioned this, and he waived over the waitress who then proceeded to look at him and say ā€œoh am i taking the order?ā€...then she takes our order and never checks back in, our waters not refilled, no drink orders taken or refilled. Then she brings our food, and other than asking if it looked good, never came back to our table. Didn’t refill our waters the entire meal..I don’t mean to be snobby but you know the Driskill Hotel? Downtown austin, that’s my family’s...started by my family, I know hotel service and this resort service does not stack up. The fact that on my husband’s birthday I’m having to drink his water..when there are literally no other customers in the entire restaurant is honestly preposterous. When we asked the host what was going on we were informed the waitress was prepping for closing 1 hour prior to the restaurant closing. Not attending to live sitting customers...prepping so she could go home early. Then when we talked to the manager about the situation he brushed it off and didn’t handle it well at at. Telling us the server was new..Oh so she can’t serve 1 table at a time? That’s sad, the standards need to be risen for the wait staff then because the clients expect more of the server especially if they can’t wait on 1 table at a time....During the meal the manager looked over at us several times (the only customers in the restaurant) knowing we’d already made a complaint about the level of service, and he proceeded to choose to not come over and speak to us or try to make us feel better. no, he actually looked at us 5-6 different times and kept walking. awkward but this manager doesn’t seem to understand what resort style service is when the meals average over $100 a ticket. I expected more and not like crazy more but again, we were literally the only customers in the entire restaurant. Disappointed can’t even begin to describe how we feel. Eat anywhere else but this restaurant if you’re coming to HSB resort. Otherwise you will be guaranteed...

Staying at the resort here in Marble Falls so we tried J’s for dinner.

Walking in, the hostess was super friendly, always a good start.

Got seated and ordered an appetizer, Mexican blue chips and corn, or something close to that, don’t remember. But it was super good! Little spicy for non spice lovers, but not so much they stopped eating it. It was better than I expected! No, that is not saffron on top, chili strings, not sure what they are, but didn’t eat them unless it was broken up and already on the cup.

Dinner was a filet and chicken fried ribeye steak. Both were very good, come hungry for the fried steak, it’s big! Filet was cooked perfectly!

Dessert was the chocolate flourless chocolate cake, which is basically chocolate mousse. It was really delicious according to my wife, I did not try it.

Overall opinion, I’d eat here again! Prices were within reason for a nice hotel.

Only negative I can say is the time after ordering to getting the food to eat. Seemed a little slow for the low number of people, but a good steak can’t be rushed.

Update: Feb 23: Sat at the bar, got a couple drinks and ordered 2 appetizers for dinner. Farmers Market and J’s salad with turkey.

The Farmers Market was top notch with a nice variety of fresh veggies and humus. The chips were light and crispy. Salad was good, turkey had a nice smoky flavor that compliments the greens.

If you’re not super hungry and want something to hold you over until breakfast, these are a good and...

We experienced the 3-course Thanksgiving dinner at J's. The hostess was a little slow at getting us started with wait staff, but soon thereafter Demond (Mgr) stopped by to check on us. I told him the restaurant was set up nice and the air was perfect. I mentioned we had been there about 15-20 mins and nobody had come to initially check on us. Well, that was immediately tended to and we were covered up with cheerful and helpful staff (Jay). We were treated like royalty the rest of the evening. Curtis (assume asst Mgr) and Demond went above and beyond to ensure we had a very pleasant experience. BTW, kudos to the chef(s) and the girl (Addy, I think) that appeared to be between the wait staff and the chefs (I'm told the position is called an "Expo"). She even checked on us twice to make sure everything was prepared well. The turkey and sides were excellent and the pumpkin spice dessert was awesome. Thanks again for a great and memorable experience. We look forward to a return trip. Happy...

My party dined at J's for breakfast on a Saturday morning. While we were seated immediately, unfortunately we waited almost twenty minutes to have our drink orders taken, despite the restaurant being barely busy. On a better note though, once our orders were taken the food arrived promptly. I had the "Hill country Omelette" which consisted of brisket, sausage, and cheddar among other things. While the omelette itself was not very flavorful, a half chilli pepper on top, was excellent. Not too spicy, but just flavorful enough. The house potatoes were excellent. I'm sure that the service would be better in the evening, and the atmosphere is great too.

My wife and I like to try different places in the area once in a while. Given the reviews we thought we'd give J's a try. Didn't realize it was in the resort hotel until we arrived. The staff were all amazing: attentive, friendly, prompt, and courteous. The food looked amazing as well, but tasted meh, especially given the price which was twice what I would have expected. My side which was 3 pieces of bacon was $9. I was expecting a nice thick cut with a good flavor but it was along the lines of road side dinner quality.

Located right inside the Horseshoe Bay Resort main entrance, J’s Restaurant and Bar is a clean, comfortable place to dine in the hill country! Plenty of seating, TVs at the bar, and lots of parking. Simple menu with a buffet option that is a full 5 course meal of options and selections include an entire dessert bar. Service on a Friday night started a little slow, but Nehal was polite and on top of our needs once service began. Recommend for lunch or dinner. Reasonably priced. Tasty and comfortable!
