The reason I gave this restaurant a two rating is because the food was not what I expected it to be. I didn't mind the service or the wait very much. Even though there was only one person serving the food and checking customers out. Who was continued to be called to the kitchen but another worker. But all the soul food wasn't presented on the steam table for the customers to view, only the sides were present. And I couldn't really make out what sides were present on the steam table. I asked the server what did was available on the steam table? She replied, "only the sides are out and the meat is kept in the kitchen". But anyway I ordered Turkey Wings, sweet potatoes, cabbage, and red kool-Aid. Hubby ordered Turkey Wings, pinto beans, and we shared the large Kool-Aid. We are when we got home. When we got settled down to eat that's when we say one turkey wing on steroids that took up the whole entire plate😦😧😱, which I didn't eat but a few bites of the turkey wing, which it was flavorful. But hubby refused to throw away an almost thirty dollar meal. Hubby's pinto beans had too much salt, our rice and gravy was salty, and the sweet potatoes were just poured out the can and had only cinnamon. If you're going to use canned sweet potatoes/yams make sure you add butter, sugar, nutmeg, and the vanilla extract and bring to a boil than turn down and cook slow until all the flavors marry and syrup get thick😋. My cabbage needed either smoked ham hocks or smoked turkey necks brought to a boil in salt & pepper/zatarrans seasoning water, vinegar and sugar to enhance the flavor before you add cabbage to the boiling water 💦. I don't measure so all I can say is taste the water before you add the cabbage. I taste all the liquor in my food before I continue to add more seasoning. And there was no cornbread with the soul food dinner. The kool-Aid tasted like red bitter sugar water. I don't know how it's being made. Get a five gallon cooler, two canisters of your favorite Kool-Aid or tea mixture, ginger ale, spirit or 7-Up, frozen concentrated lemonade, frozen concentrated orange juice and fill your container with ice to help dilute your kool-Aid/Tea Punch. You may have to add either a half gallon or a gallon of water to your powered mixture before you add the soda, lemonade and pineapple juice. Always taste the beverage just to make sure it's not overly sweet. If you decide to add cornbread to your dinners. I pray nothing but prosperity for your establishment to get better and you hire more people to serve the customers. Many blessings to you and your...
Read moreFirst I must say the place was clean the lady that helped with my call in order was like meeting your mother she was very welcoming. The kool-aid was awesome, the problem for "me" was the salt the food had so much salt it was the first thing that registered on my tongue , I ordered the oxtails yams and greens , the greens were clearly out of a bag they weren't fresh picked maybe restaurants don't have time to do that anymore, the yams may have been out the can they were very dark , oxtails were cut small seems to be the regular at most soulfood restaurants now maybe they cook faster cut thin. The dessert in the display were small portions I didn't purchase . So the best out of this visit was the customer service and the kool-aid I would suggest less on the salt . Salt can't be your only seasoning I thought my ankles were going to fall off because of...
Read moreThe food was great, and they made it quick. I ordered the ox tails, collard greens, yams, and mac and cheese, and it came with corn bread. The oxtails, mac and cheese, and corn bread were my favorite. The owner was very hospitable. I will be back when I am on that side of town. Anyone who made a terrible review is crazy because it is almost impossible to get a plate that is loaded with rice, ox tails, greens, mac, and a side of corn bread for 20 dollars. The food was not the worst, and yes, I have had better, but for the price and the amount of food you get, it is worth it. It is priced accordingly. I would say go check it out for yourself and find out because this place is great and the prices match the amount of food you get. You can not beat it. My mom loved it,...
