Where do I begin?...well, thing about this place is that for one, the food is overpriced for the amount they serve. Went to eat crawfish but the minimum amount of crawfish that one has to order is two pounds. Would really wish that they would change it to 1 pound minimum so that one won't be forced to get two pounds if they don't want to. Another thing, the crawfish was ok. Flavor was bland the way the crawfish was served. However, with the crawfish chili powder they had on the table I kind of fixed the flavor. Hot sauce was missing from my table as well. After McGyvering the flavor of the crawfish for a better flavor, the crawfish was finally ok. Point though is that the flavor should be good coming out of the kitchen. Second problem was the potatoes. For one serving of potatoes @ 1.75 I received three tiny potatoes...about 1/3 the size of a red potatoe. I think that is a bit overpriced for the amount I was served. Also, I felt that my entire dinner at Cajun Kitchen was overpriced seeing as how the crawfish, potatoes, and corn I ordered were all separately charged. Other places have it where an order of crawfish comes automatically with potatoes at least.
Another problem was the service. Although my servers were ok in the polite department, the service was still a bit lacking. As mentioned before, our table was missing a hot sauce bottle (some tables had them, others didn't). We were served no forks or utensils for the potatoes or the corn. Even if we didn't need them it is usually an unwritten standard in most restaurants that people should be served a set of eating utensils whether they need them or not.
Overall, experience was a bit less than OK. If the price would be adjusted, the minimum amount of crawfish changed to 1 pound, and the flavor of the crawfish fixed, I would perhaps rate this place a bit better next time. Until then, I will probably choose to...
Read moreOur first time here and it's quite the odd atmosphere at first. Initially you're taken aback by the music. A blend of house, hipster, tracks. I enjoyed it quite a bit as it's very similar to what I listen to in my car. Not sure how I felt about it as I was about to get down to some boiled seafood. It kind of clashed with being that they were playing the NBA Playoffs and I wasn't sure if i was in a lounge or a sports bar.
That's just an observation and is definitely not a negative towards the restaurant at all. We ended up getting the fatass special which came with an assortment of crawfish, crab legs, and shrimp all boiled/cooked in your choice of sauce. Mild spice is slightly spicier than mild but at crawfish joints, levels of spiciness vary quite a bit. I can handle spicy but there were a few moments I was in a bit of pain here. It all tasted good. The crawfish size is a little bigger at the other places we've been trying during the season but nothing to really complain about as I"m only a casual crawfish eater.
We ordered the tamarind and nuoc mam wings. Those were probably my favorite of the night since I do enjoy myself some wings. Both are saucy type flavors and definitely pack in the flavors quite well. I'd come back here for the wings alone.
The only complaint and it was not just us but others as well, is the major delay in getting out any dish that contained fried rice. Lot of people were packing their fried rice dishes to go as it took a long time for them to cook. Our crawfish fried rice didn't come out until we were 90% done with our wings and boiled seafood. Normally I'd be a bit more tolerate but since that was the one dish my daughter can eat I was quite upset a majority of the night.
So come for the good music, come for the food. If you're looking for a quick in and out so you can head to the next place, DON'T order any dishes...
Read moreThe 1 star is primary driven by the level of service received. Upon entering the establishment, we were not greeted or seated. It took a little over 5 mins for someone to acknowledge us. Once we were seated, it took another 10 mins for someone to come take our order. The waitress came back twice to confirm our order since she would not write it down. We ordered the hungry man basket and the large shrimp basket, with 2 lbs or crawfish. My husband requested a horseradish, cocktail and tarter. We only received one of each for such a large order of food. Upon requesting additional, we were told they would be $.50 each... We were already spending $50+ on dinner that did not come with condiments?
The fried food was bland, thick thick batter with no seasoning. The crawfish were even worse. Very bland no flavor for $10.99, I believe is absurd. The fried catfish was frozen not fresh. Oysters were bitter with no taste. The shrimp were okay, they were the only thing that tasted fresh.
Lastly, the service was still terrible, it took forever for someone to follow up with us and be waited on. When we decided to close out our tab, one gentleman ran around in circles trying to figure out what was on our ticket as previously mentioned the waitress never wrote it down. The bar manager brought us our check, asked if we needed togo boxes because we left so much food on the table. I would have taken that as a sign and followed up with the guest. No one looked at us twice until we walked out. One lady decided to follow us out the door to confirm if we'd paid the bill. How rude and how embarrassing. Will NEVER RETURN TO THIS...
