My husband and I visited here with friends to try a new restaurant before attending a group event. We didn't know where to park since there were only a few spots, which were all taken. We finally found a spot a block over and parked, but the hostess placed an additional parking sign pointing to the paint shop across the street and told us we could park there and so we did. It's a small restaurant, but it was well kept with a laid back atmosphere. We watched our friends and other guests food come out one by one and they appeared to offer decent portions and everyone liked their food.
Unfortunately the staff forgot our order and literally had to come to the table to ask us our order less 15-minutes before we were scheduled to leave!!!! So, we basically watched everyone in the restaurant receive their plates and get served one-by-one while we waited patiently. The hostess attempted to save face by coming to the table asking if everyone was alright multiple times after the oversight. My husband and I didn't respond to avoid making a scene and stating the obvious. No, y'all forgot about us and we're hungry. The woman who took our order apologized and we had to take our food to go and eat it later. Thankfully my husband checked it because both orders were wrong! They gave him the wrong side and didn't include my side. The food was okay, but the service was lacking and I don't think we'll...
Read moreThis is a new spot in midtown/montrose area. The venue itself is very nice. There is seating inside and out. They've only been open a month or so. Dani was our server and she is amazing. We had a great time with her. We received complimentary wine while sitting there ( last night was the final night). We ordered wings (lemon pepper and garlic parm) but they also had barbecue and Buffalo. We also ordered seafood pasta, catfish (one grilled and one fried), cup of gumbo and collard greens. The absolute best dish was the seafood pasta, close second was the chicken and sausage gumbo. The other items were good, but our repeat orders will include pasta and gumbo. I love the fact that they cooked their greens with turkey products and use chicken or turkey sausage in the pasta and gumbo. I found out that the owner don't eat pork, however for Sunday Brunch they offer pork options such as bacon and sausage. Parking will be typical for this area which is on the street. It was not many people at all, but the set-up they have it won't be long once the word gets out. The outside seating area had televisions as well. Overall it's popping and I see the potential for being overly crowded really soon. Check them out now so you can enjoy a nice relaxing meal with some...
Read moreWe found this restaurant on Google while we were visiting Houston for a week. We were looking for Black Owned breakfast/brunch spots that we hadn't already patronized (we had been to most of them at this point in the trip), and Google said this was one (so we assumed it is... but we noticed that Google said a number of restaurants in Houston were black owned, which actually weren't. I think they are Black-owned, tho). We came across this on a whim (we were exhausted of searching for places and we were STARVING) and decided to go visit.
The waitress/bar tender was super cool. I loved everything about her (but I don't remember her name. 🥴) and she was just real chill and easy to talk to. The food came out pretty quickly and the fried whitefish was GREAT. The food gets 4 stars instead of five, simply because those waffles were LIGHT-SKINNED as heck, and I like my waffles to have a little more color to them. They were buttered and the syrup was really hot, tho, so it tasted fine. I cleaned my plate and would definitely go there again, if I'm ever...
