it is 15:13 on October 1,and I am here at this buffet and I called before I came and asked if the weekend buffet was the same as other times, it is not .There is nothing on the buffet, and what little is there is old and cold .And when I asked for the veteran discount the Mexican and white guy claimed they never heard of it .I came from southwest Houston to enjoy this place ,and am greatly disappointed.I am a veteran that tries to support vet owned buisness but not if they don't achieve the mission. I am a long time customer here and out of all the places I could have celebrated my birthday on I came here. My special day ruined and I was lied to several times about the vet discount that has been available to me many times. In fact ,a couple came in a few minutes after I did and took one look at the poor offerings and immediately left, so it wasn't just me .Ofcourse the owner was not there ,but a well run buisness doesn't need the boss there all the time for his vision to be enacted whether he is there or not .I will never return here, and the owner need not respond with any excuses because the pictures I took tell the story and cannot be denied. The whole time I was there not one item was refreshed, not one dirty pan was changed but this place is open until 9pm so when was fresh food going to be put out ? Sure ,it was not busy, however I paid FULL price to eat the full buffet and enjoy everything everyone else had during the lunch ,not pick from their scraps.

I've been coming here for about 10 years. But after reading some of the horrible reviews, I had to post one that's more reflective of my experiences. The food, especially, the chicken is always hot and fresh. I ALWAYS get the Buffet. It's a great deal considering I typically eat about 5 - 10 Thighs and Legs. On the buffet that have cold items, like Cole Slaw Potato Salad & dressings for the Chicken Strips. On the hot side they typically have Baked Chicken, Chicken Tenders, Mashed Potatoes, both types of Gravy, Rice, a rotating selection of beans (Red & Pinto), Corn, Greens with Bacon, Cabbage with Bacon, Green Beans with Bacon, Macaroni and Cheese, with other selections. Livers and Gizzards aren't always out, but just ask, they'll make them fresh. They do charge extra for Fries, Fried Okra, Corn on the Cob and Jalapeños. But those items aren't on nor have they never been on the buffet. Don't forget the Yeast rolls! Although they used to be really big and fluffy, as of late they've been de-poofed. I've NEVER had rude or horrible service, from anyone. It's typically always clean. But they don't have a ton of staff, so things can get a little bit messy in the dining room. But I've seen people leave crazy messes. The Buffet Ends One Hour before Closing.

I don't know how old some of these reviews are but tonight 12/18/2020 service was awful ordered 7 piece tender combo mashed potatoes NO gravy and I waited 10 minutes you can't see inside the drive thru window because for some reason they have blocked it with some type of tape I couldn't see any movement so I called as I was waiting at drive thru window no one answered the phone I drove off to come back around there was a car in front so I waited even longer so finally the guy that took my order came out the back door with my order he asked what happened I told him I was trying to get money back because you guys were taking so Iong , they never gave me the option to say I don't want to wait then my order isn't correct I asked for no gravy I got the opposite, and the chicken was half cooked . My next step is to send a copy of this review to the corporate office.

They don't offer a spicy fried chicken. Nor did they have regular fried chicken on the buffet line. You had to ask for it. I'm assuming it's for portion control. Yet... the best part of the fried Chicken is the size of the pieces and the flavor. The fried Chicken is what makes coming to Hartz Chicken Buffet well worth it. They did however have baked chicken on the buffet line, but it looked dried out, as well as the Buffalo Chicken Wings and fried Gizzards. The Chicken Strips, I couldn't tell the difference between it and the fried Catfish. On top of that, I'm not a fan of dipping my Chicken Strips in Gravy. I'd rather have Honey Mustard. Unfortunately, Honey Mustard isn't even offered on the side or on the Salad Bar. The Mashed Potatoes and Mac & Cheese were bland. Green Beans and Rolls were good. Corn? (I didn't have the Corn, because I don't like Corn.) Salad Bar & Fruits were lacking in variety and quality. As for the Peach Cobbler, dry (as the filling was stiff like drying paste) and lacking peaches. The Soda Fountain didn't have much of a variety. So if you drink Diet Soda, they only have Diet Coke. If they're out, oh well. As for cleanliness, needs improvement. Several tables had grease and crumbs. The floor was sticky and the bathroom (had to use the Woman's because the Men's {I was told} was out of order,) was dirty as well. Personally, I believe that they keep the Men's Restroom locked for their own personal use. Incidentally, the restroom is so small, it's not...
