Edit: The owner of the cafe message me and let me know that if you spend at least $10 at the cafe and you parked at the Asia Society Texas Center parking lot, they will validate your parking.
The new cafe concept inside of Asia Society Texas Center. You can dine in at Kin Café without getting admission ticket to Asia Society Texas Center. If you park in the Asia Society Texas Center parking lot you have to pay for parking, the café will not validate your parking, so the cheapest way is park on the street and pay for street parking. They have combos selection, there I got the Take 2 Combo (1/2 Bulgogi Jachae and 1/2 Bánh Mi) it was super delicious the jachae taste like the real meat version, very good flavor. The Bánh Mi I had the eggplant as the filling, it was very tasty also. In the end I tried the Matcha Jasmine Swiss Roll, the flavor of the matcha was very strong in a good way, it mean it is good quality matcha the cream in the roll was very tasty. This is a must get. They make every food fresh so it is still fast and they will bring the food to you, if you want water which is self serve. The owner, Vivi is very nice and came out to ask everyone how...
Read moreI’m always looking for good vegetarian and vegan food and was so happy to discover Kin Cafe! The cafe is tucked away in the Asia Society Houston - a calm oasis with a beautiful view. We had the bahn mi sandwich with tofu and the rainbow rice bowl with lemongrass bulgogi (vegan). Wow! Both are highly recommended. The baguette is fresh and crusty, and the tofu and fillings in the sandwich are flavorful and delicious. The rice bowl is generous, balanced and healthy, with a satisfying mix of textures and flavors. The veggies, salads and kimchi are fresh and well seasoned. And that lemongrass bulgogi? Out of this world! The smoky umami taste is perfect. Next time? Definitely tea and pastries. I even spotted a shelf of interesting books that would be nice to read in the cafe. If you’re looking for an inviting atmosphere, friendly staff and a delicious meal or cup of tea, Kin Cafe is...
Read moreThe cafe is a hidden gem located in the Asian Society museum…but there is a door from the outside into the cafe. The outdoor seating is nice and a misting system periodically goes off creating a light, cool breeze. They even validate parking in the lot across the street!
I had the banana bread and a Japanese style cheesecake…both were delicious:). While mostly vegetarian it’s not strictly vegetarian…my friend had the hot dog bites (they were small portions of hot dog in a light puffed pastry).
In chatting with the staff I learned that they use flour from a Texas farmers coop and it makes the breads not feel heavy in your tummy. The Asian inspired lunch meals aren’t made with any fish bone meal, making them safe for folks like my friend with...
