I had multiple services done here on 1/4/2019.
This rating is for my facial and pedicure. The young lady that did these services was Jen. Firstly, let me say that this is my third time visiting the Zaspa in the Houston Art District. I had to complete a form to describe my skin type, needs, and concerns. It really is sad that I took the effort filling out this form and the esthetician didn’t even look at it. If she had looked maybe I would have enjoyed the facial. She didn’t ask about the fact that I use retinA on my face and how that would react with the products she would be using. So the initial product she used made my face feel like it was on fire....Horrible horrible experience! Luckily I was able to tolerate it for a short time but it just wasn’t a relaxing pleasant experience. Which is how I wanted my whole spa day to feel. After she wiped the fire cream off my face... she did some other things and a mask. Lastly she worked on cleaning my pores...removing black heads and white heads which was one of my main concerns. They are mainly on my chin and around my mouth and lips...had she read my questionnaire, she would’ve known that. But she didn’t read my questionnaire. She may have removed 3-5 blackheads/whiteheads on my forehead and nose and one on my cheek...and then she was done! Total waste of time and money. This was the Detox and Renew facial for $140. Please do not waste your money! I really felt like she didn’t want to be there and she didn’t enjoy her job.
I was also lucky enough to have her do my Heavy Metal Pedicure...not lucky! It just wasn’t very relaxing. She wasn’t prepared items weren’t laid out so she had to continuously open/close drawers. They weren’t quite they were loudly closed and she kept dropping things. Everything was loud and clanky, not relaxing. i thought the chair might massage or vibrate slightly, but it didn’t, oh well. Aside from her being loud and disorganized....the pedicure was ok but not worth $95
For these two things I could’ve gone somewhere else. I did pay for these services and added a 20% tip....but she didn’t deserve a penny! Worst experience ever!
I also had “The Morning After” package which was a scrub, seaweed wrap, and massage (added full body for $30 extra) this was $190+$30=$220. I really enjoyed this...Benjamin is the best! Two days later, and my skin still feels scrub soft.
I love the Zaza Hotel and spa. I was very disappointed with the facial and pedicure. For a full day at the spa I should’ve felt relaxed and rejuvenated....and great about spending $546 and I DID NOT!
I will try a new place in 6 months...the Houstonia has been recommended, but I’m...
Read moreOur experience at the ZaSpa was undoubtedly the highlight of our stay at Hotel Zaza. Opting for the 90-minute "Two's a Party" couple massage, my wife and I were guided to separate locker rooms and invited to change into comfortable robes and slippers. The exceptionally soft robes set the tone for a relaxing experience. After changing, we were led to a lounge where we awaited our appointment. The dim lighting, pleasant scents, and soothing music in the lounge created a tranquil ambiance, helping us relax even before the massage began. Our massage therapists, Julie and Martha, provided an exceptional experience. Their effective communication throughout the session made us feel well-cared for at the highest level. During the massage, they introduced elements of aromatherapy and hot stone massages, with the hot stones being a particular favorite. Julie noticed a challenging knot in my neck and paid special attention to it. After the massage, I experienced a significantly wider range of motion that I didn't even realize was hindered. After leaving the massage room, Julie and Martha were waiting in the hallway with waters for each of us to rehydrate. We were then guided back to our respective locker rooms, where a sauna and shower after the massage provided the perfect conclusion to our visit. During checkout, Julie had informed the front desk and recommended a balm for me to take home to continue therapy on that knot in my neck. Her personalized touch...
Read moreMassages! I love them! When SpaWeek arrived I was thrilled ($50 = a steal), my friend and I both made appointments at ZaSpa because we had heard such great things.
When we walked in and changed into the robes, I have to say I was looking forward to the massage. The robe is by far the softest most AWESOME-est robe ever. True story.
I got taken back to the room where I would get my massage. This is where things turn south. You definitely need oil/lotion something to help reduce the friction when getting a massage. HOWEVER, I do not want to feel like I'm about to be deep-fried!
There was an overwhelming amount of oil poured on me and absolutely no friction for a bit. Repeat this for both arms and legs.
When I was face up, the therapist reached his arms under my back. I'm use to this, what I wasn't use to was the close proximity of our faces, I could feel and smell his breath on my face...which let's be honest -- is a little awkward and just weird. I did peek real quick only to realize his face was about 3 inches away from mine.
The one redeeming quality is that I asked for firm pressure to get some of my knots out, and he delivered. My upper back was sore for almost 2 days.
At the end I was given hot towels (good lord did I need them) to wipe off the excess oil.
I have to say next year for SpaWeek, I'll probably most likely choose a...
