I live in Kemah and rarely ever get to make it my hometown of Pasadena. I'm running an estate sale a block away from Las Morenitas and thought I'd check it out for lunch... it is almost impossible to find a Mexican restaurant that serves anything resembling fideo soup in Kemah so I ordered the child's plate of alphabet soup. It had a side of cheese and I used my fiances avacado and lime to top it. It was so good and such a large serving for a childs plate I was stuffed... My fiance ordered the grilled seasoned chicken with rice and beans and he said it was delicious. I noticed a dish on the menu that I had never heard of before called Aporreado. It is manchaca (dried beef) mixed with eggs and topped with a very soupy 'special' chile sauce... I promised Maria I would come back for breakfast the next day to try out some breakfast tacos but.... I didn't make it. Shane stopped at Shipleys (not my favorite kolache shop) instead. Today Shane and ordered the Aporreado dish and it was to die for.. we loved it. And tomorrow we will definitely be stopping by for breakfast... The owner Maria was very sweet and the place is very clean with a great atmosphere....

We were traveling and stopped at our hotel next to Las Morenitas at 10 pm , they usually close at 9pm on Sunday's, they welcomed us in and I'm not kidding, that was thee best Mexican food we've ever had and the service was fantastic also, wishing they had a chain of restaurants so Texas could have their food too, 1 out of 10 Las Morenitas gets a 12 lol, it was so great my boyfriend usually tips 10% and he was so happy with the service and food he tipped 25%. Ever year I travel through I'm stopping for the best Mexican food...

This place is like a diamond in the rough. I ordered some enchiladas & the sauce was a mole sauce over the enchiladas . I’ve never had that before. (I’m extremely picky with my mole , but it was actually pretty good, the sauce) my daughter got a kids quesadilla plate & it was like a plate for an adult! I like that. My husband even asked the waitress if his mom was back there in the kitchen because the food was so good! Amazing food...

The machecado a la Mexicana was soooooooooooo good!!! Way better than the migas a la Mexicana. The migas were not bad, just not as good as the machecado! The rice was also good, but the refried beans were a little too runny for my liking. Oh, and the flour tortillas, also very, very good. And I mention them because they were not made there fresh, but taste as if they were! Highly recommend the Cafe con canela.

The food here is good. Waitresses are friendly. The plates always have great presentation. The price you pay for your food is pretty fair. They do have a kids meal. If you like spicy salsas that have that. They have a good variety of beverages,I always order the lemonade. I ordered a quesadilla de fajita the last time I ate here, it was flavorful.

Great Mexican restaurant ! One of our favorite places for breakfast. The staff is super friendly & the place is clean. Homemade corn 🌽 tortillas & the best aporriado outside of tierra caliente.
