Slowpokes — Restaurant in Houston

Devastated and disappointed pretty much sums up how I feel after leaving this establishment. I typically visit the Slowpokes in the West University area, but I was in the area so I decided to stop at this location. On a positive note: the atmosphere is nice. I ordered a total of 3 drinks (1 for me and 2 for my little ones) all with oat milk and 2 breakfast items for my little ones. Let's start with the fact that I have proudly stayed completely away from cow's milk for nearly 16 years and I am also currently on a gut health cleanse (day 7 out of 30) that was completely ruined today because my order was entered incorrectly. After continously trying to understand why my iced matcha tasted so weird, something told me to look at my receipt and boom, I noticed that my drink order did not specify oat milk as requested but the other two drinks did have oat milk specified. The manager eagerly remade my drink, but there was no apology. You could tell that I was devastated and I even told them that I was trying my best not to break out in tears. I work a very demanding job and today is my off day that will be spent being sick due to having a lactose sensitivity as well as going so many years without consuming cow's milk. The positive side is this has now encouraged me to make my matchas and lattes at home moving forward to prevent anything like this from happening again. And no I did not receive a refund. I gulped down 3 cups of water attempting to flush my system fast. Side note: the remade iced matcha tasted weird so I went to another coffee shop about 3 minutes away to pay for...

I was there the other day and ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and asked them to add bacon to it which was a mistake. They use crumbled bacon 🥓 PLEASE ! This is a very bad idea . A classic Grilled cheese sandwich should have two to three “SLICES” . NOT ! piled on 😱Bacon has a strong, smoky, and salty flavor that overpowers the more subtle flavors of the cheese and bread, detracting from the classic taste of a grilled cheese sandwich . This abomination of a sandwich should be on the 50 Worst ever Food items of the world . You do NOT! Put crumbled bacon on grilled cheese sandwiches EVA🤨only nice thick strips of bacon. I have never ever seen crumbled or chopped bacon on a Grilled cheese sandwich (It’s a bad combo) I’m really upset…. because when I pulled the sandwich out of the bag (while Hurrying to my next service ) call bacon pieces fell into the abyss between my consul and seat😡 I’ve never seen crumbled bacon on a grilled cheese sandwich. FYI SYSCO sells crumbled bacon at a very low price point and it cost more for strip Bacon. This crumbled Bacon has more Fat than protein 🤮The Coffee is good. The people that go there are a nice crowd and I met someone there Randomly , we shared some of our thoughts about the Christian faith when I noticed that she had a Bible and we prayed for each other Together...

My first visit, I had the La Fifi (a flatbread pizza) and I was so shocked at how it was exploding with flavor! It was soo delicious! The second time, I wanted to try chicken and I was torn between the chicken panino and the slowpoke wrap. George, suggested the Panino,so I went with that. He said it was the best on the menu, so I asked him in comparison to the La FiFi would he still say that. Unfortunately, he hadn't yet tried that one. However, once I tried it I had to disagree. Although it was really good, still, it was missing something for me. I asked George if they ever considered serving it with a dipping sauce and he said that they have a creamy cilantro sauce. This intrigued me because of the aoili sauce was just enough for it to not be too difficult to swallow with the thick pretzel bread. George, gave me a sample of the creamy cilantro when I was down to my last 2 bites (no fault of his, I was really hungry lol). When I tell you those last 2 bites almost made me cry because it was SO INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS, my mind was blown away!!! I couldnt do a thing but THANK GOD for it being WAY better than what I expected! Loved it!🤗🙏🏾💯 These 2 items were paired with a matcha latte with almond milk. My day is filled with so much joy now!!!🫡💝😅🙏🏾💯 I NEED EVERYONE TO TRY...
