Wow, authentic Northern Vietnamese Phở Mr. Phở gave me such a pleasant surprised with their food ever since I came there a few weeks ago and have been back multiple times. I even host a private dinner for 70 after hour. What I tried so far there: Phở fillet, meatballs, tripe - so good. The deeply rich beef broth balanced with seasons was so perfect that I did not need any hoisin sauce. (I did put a little fish sauce to my bowl to balance the sweetness). The pickled garlic was a nice additional taste that I have not seen before. My buddies love to sip the savory broth to the bottom of the bowl. Lol. Fried Rice- very flavorful. It was full of different meats, shrimps, sautéed onions, scallions and black pepper. Topped with a nicely fried egg. The chewy rice was NOT clumpy or too moist. Only thing was I added a little extra hot sauce to my liking. yogurt drink- my oh my. This is definitely Viet yogurt. My wife and my guest loved it. Said it was such refreshing unlike any other drink. Must try. I held a private dinner for my guests and they did an incredible job at hosting. The food was different than the normal menu and my guests were very impressed. What we ordered: grilled meat spring roll - everyone loved it! I agree it was so good along with the special fish sauce. I sipped the extra fish sauce to the last drop. Yes it was that good! asparagus purée soup- wow! Refreshing and just perfect to start the meal. grilled: steak, salmon or shrimps with garlic butter pasta were so good some of our guests asked for extra. (I don't know how but I could finish my steak since it was a large 14 oz.) The service every time I came were super friendly and super attentive. I got a chance to meet the owner, Kenny, and his partner - Yen. They sure love and very proud of their cooking. The restaurant may not be a 5 stars in ambiance but once you taste the food, you will soon forget everything and just enjoy the taste on...
Read moreI have been there twice. First time ordered 10lbs of crawfish. It was a great deal @ $7/lbs and the service was pleasant. Went back the next weekend for the crawfish and ordered some drinks as well. Again, food was decent (6/10) but the price was right and service was pleasant. Towards the end of the meal, my server told me about a deal they had…. Dungeness crab and fried rice for $40. When I got the bill, they charged me full price. When I brought the bill to the lil boss, he said the deal was for easter weekend. I informed him my server told me dif and instead of honoring his employee’s pitch, he asked me to point out which server told me. At that point, I told him not to worry about it as I’m no snitch. On top of that, the lil boss said my wife and I should check out his other restaurant bc they served american chinese food like gen tso’s chicken and broccoli beef. Ive got no idea why he’d think we would order that type of food (we don’t). Maybe because we dont speak vietnamese? We arent vietnamese so we dont speak the language. Anyways, as i said before, the food is decent….. not the best, not the worst. And the price is right if you’re looking for cheap seafood. However, the self described ‘owner’ could use a lesson on customer service. All he had to do was honor his server’s word and he would have gained a loyal customer. Instead, I am much less inclined to visit this...
Read moreRarely do i find myself writing a review and even rarer am I writing a review becuase I'm thoroughly impressed with the level of customer satisfaction after eating at Mr. Pho.
Tucked in a non descript plaza in asia town, Mr. Pho specializes in only a few dishes to ensure top shelf quality and consistency. After being recognized as one of the top new Pho and bun bo hue restaurants in houston I knew I had to check this place out sooner rather than later.
After Kenny (the owner) introduced himself and took my order he recommended (very passionately I might add) to try the special of the day (the name of which I forgot) which I did.
Dry noodles, with well seasoned meat, a savory sauce and an exceptional pork bone dipping broth made this a truly memorable meal.
Kenny also took it upon himself to mix up the special for me by hand to ensure I enjoyed everything properly.
The level of customer service and quality and ingredients is something that is seldom found hand in hand in a vietnamese restaurant. I tend to eat vietnamese 2 times a week and have eaten vietnamese all across the US and I can honestly tell you Mr. Pho is hands down one of the most impressive establishments I have ever vistied. I look forward to go back for some Bun bo hue,...
