I interviewed with the Enerald Diner on Wednesday. I was hired and given a menu to memorize and told I’d be contacted with my schedule. On Thursday I was scheduled to start the following Wednesday (6 days) and work 3 days that week. Dress code was all black. I went and bought more appropriate and professional black clothing (ones I probably wouldn’t wear other then at work) and black non skid restaurant shoes. I then started preparing. Washed all the clothes. Actually wore the shoes I bought to break them in. Then today (Friday) I get a message from the interviewer that they decided not to hire anyone right now and they’ll contact me when they are. (I have years and years of waitress experience and multiple good professional reviews pertaining to my serving experience so I would of been a great asset and the women who interviewed me knew that because she voiced it to me). So I literally spent well over $100 on clothes (already washed) and shoes (i already wore) that I can’t return, because the business hired me when they were sure of bringing more staff on (apparently) and then unhired me (because they weren’t “hiring anyone”). I feel like this is very ignorant as well as unprofessional and if it’s any inkling of how this Enerald Diner is going to be ran,...
Read moreI previously gave 1 star to this business because I caught them reusing butters and jellies from tables back during the pandemic. But after visiting recently, I feel this place deserves a better rating and more thorough review.
So let's start with the atmosphere itself: cozy and unique. I always enjoy trolley car restaurants and this one is well decorated. I also noticed there wasn't Fox News on the TV this time. Nobody wants to watch the news and be sad while they eat, no matter which channel.
The service is generally quick and friendly although when the place gets busy, one server is not enough and I don't blame her for having an attitude under that pressure.
The food is great here. They make a great Reuben and they have some of the best Stuffed Pepper Soup in town.
Despite some growing pains, this place has greatly improved over the past few years. I still have concerns over how seriously they take public health. But they appear to be following code better and they seem to have backed away from airing political propaganda on TV. If not for past concerns, I would give 5 stars and call it the best brunch spot in Hubbard. I look forward to visiting again and hope to continue having the same great experience...
Read moreTues lunch. First time at Rhonda's. Located in an interesting bit of urban development centered on an old RR Depot. The faux Diner facade fit in. Another of the decor was faux 50's. The lines in the parking lot were green in homage to the Emerald theme. The Diner was half full with only 1 waitress so everything was painfully slow. They were out of turkey so the club sandwiches were "incomplete". Our choice to stick with the order. All the food was served hot. We enjoyed lunch, wouldn't hesitate to go back. UPDATE 10/28. We did go back with friends and had a totally different experience. At 4pm they were already sold out of the Friday Special. We chose the Chef Salad and Philly Cheesesteak. Both proved to be poor selections. The salad was a bowl of iceberg lettuce with some rolled up ham slices. No veggies, no tomato, no cheese, no croutons. The cheesesteak was underwhelming. Very little steal and not much cheese. A few mushroom slices and onion. Granted, the meal was cheap but we got what...
