Everything went well until after the cake tasting. Once Amy (the owner) had our money for our cake deposit, it was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone at Keyes, let alone Amy. We resorted to emails to try and get anything done and Keyes still didn't update things correctly to our order. Three weeks prior, we paid the remaining balance due on our cake and checked in to make sure all was well with our order. Everything was "fine" and delivery was scheduled to our venue for 5:30pm on our wedding. Well... 6:00pm rolled around on the day of our wedding day and still no cake. Our wedding coordinator called Keyes to find out when the cake would arrive and that is when we found out that they had not baked our cake because they forgot. The owner was too concerned about her vacation the following day to stay organized enough to make sure our wedding cake was made and delivered. Luckily, they did throw another cake together along with some cupcakes and we ended up with something for our wedding. However, it was not what we ordered (it did taste delicious, we will give them that at least), and it was late. All would have been forgiven if we had at least gotten a sincere apology. However, Amy and the other manager could not even be bothered enough to even call us themselves and apologize for their mistake. We had to call them the next day, and they made us feel bad for being upset about them messing up our special day and acted like it was no big deal (excuse us, but it was our wedding day and it was a big deal). Keyes eventually did refund us, but the refund took almost 3 weeks to receive and could not be completed right away because Amy had to be in town to "oversee" the refund and could not empower her manager to take care of the customer. So, all in all, while the cake that ended up being made for our wedding tasted great, it was not worth the customer service experience and the hassle. We would not recommend Keyes Cafe in Hudson...
Read more3/5 stars for the food. 1/5 for the service. Each week my boyfriend and I travel around in search of good food, drinks, and a comfortable place to study. This week we choose Keys Cafe in Hudson and have never had a worse experience. We choose a quiet corner where we could plug in our laptops, study, and not bother anyone. When we go somewhere, our plan is to stay as long as possible, sometimes most of the day if the place doesn't get too busy so we can focus on our work. We are quiet, respectful, and make sure to order food and drinks throughout the day. We made it clear to the waitress our intentions were to study, and made sure it was okay with her. She said it was fine as long as they didn't get too busy that they would need the table. In the end, we were only there for one hour. The waitress made us anxious, and the staff in general seemed to act as if we were in the way (even though the place wasn't busy at all). I'm guessing they have had bad experiences with students in the past, but that does not mean we should be treated rudely. Especially when other cafe's, restaurants, coffee shops, and other places treat us nicely and appreciate our business. In the end, we ordered over $35 dollars worth of food and drinks. (The food wasn't even that great, they were small portions for the cost, and half a plate of corn beef hash cost $10!). If we wouldn't have been treated so poorly, we would have continued to order more food throughout the rest of the day, but since we were so anxious, the food quality was bad, and were not getting any work done, we left early. In fact, after our first order, the waitress brought us our bill right away as if saying we should leave. We were excited to try something new as It was our first time there, but I'm sad to say we were highly disappointed and will never...
Read moreI so badly wish I could give this a higher rating. We continue to give chances to this location.
What is nice is that they offer online ordering and they state they offer curb side pickup. I also enjoy most of their food.
The not so nice now... *The curbside is hit and miss if they actually do go outside or if you (like me) just finally walk in. We usually park right out front and also leave our vehicle description in the textbox when selecting curbside. (Disclaimer: may be different reviews for sit-in dining) Primarily we do takeout from this location and the past 4 times or so, the order has either been missing something or it wasn't quite right. This morning we got hashbrowns and not crispy American fries. Crunchy American Fries are my favorite, so it was disappointing to not get them. Also for the higher price, it's been frustrating to get the wrong item or not getting what you ordered at all. *The other thing that I wish they'd be consistent with is the condiments. Their jelly is pretty good and I wish we consistently got it when we order breakfast with toast. Same with butter and syrup for pancakes. It's kind of hit or miss on this specific item.
I know this might seem nitpicky, but with every order having an issue I've the past 4+ visits, it does get a bit annoying. Especially for what you spend.
Like I said at the beginning, I wish I could give this a higher review. Some tweaks to business operations and order process flows could be made to assist with the issues I noted. I hope in the future to see these if we...
