Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Hummelstown

Went here for father's day. It was a great delicious experience. It was really busy around 6 pm that day. We were about 5th in line and there were 2 windows open. The selection is huge- it's hard to decide. I wish the cyclone/blizzard thing had 3 sizes including the standard size, kids, and large. After waiting about 5 minutes the line tripled! We wiped down our cups (we were the only ones) and bought our own spoons. The amphitheatre/ outdoor lawn is great to put down a picnic blanket and be socially distant. There was plenty of parking. It is a great location. You can bring your dog easily. There were people sitting at the wooden tables which were taped off due to covid. I would say visit with caution and at your own risk. If you're comfortable potentially being close to people who don't socially distance or wear masks that is definitely something to consider cause there is some risk while waiting in line. I’ve been coming to this Rita’s for a while, but after tonight, I’m really disappointed. I came to meet friends and got in line at 8:52 PM—well before their posted closing time of 9:00 PM. My friends were just ahead of me and placed their orders, but when it was our turn (only three people behind them), the employees abruptly announced they were done taking orders and closing by saying “WE’RE NOT SERVING ANYONE ELSE TONIGHT” and shut their blinds.

It’s frustrating that three staff members couldn’t handle a short line, and worse, my friends said one of the workers was visibly upset, almost throwing a tantrum and shouting that they were closed as soon as they saw people still outside. That kind of attitude is really unprofessional.

Customer service at this location has gone downhill, and it’s disappointing to see how little regard they now show for customers. We recommend cubby’s down the street. Support a small business with kind staff that is always excited to...

Rita’s is always a great place to go ice cream and flavored ice is always great, the only reason I’m giving this 1 stars was the customer service. My first time at this location and was by far the worst customer service at any of the Rita’s locations I’ve been too. Got in line to order there was one couple in front of us , after they got their order we proceeded to the window to order the girl was to preoccupied with personal conversations till she greeted us after a good 5 mins went by . The girl was to worried about the conversation going on that even my order was wrong. So had to wait in line once again to be ignored.
