Please note...when there is a show at the Dixie Theater, the menu at Mallards is a limited item special event menu. So we were a little disappointed as this was our very first visit to this restaurant and di not know this. That being said, it was very tasty food. We got the fried mushrooms for an appi. They were good. Not fabulous, but tasty. My daughter and I ordered the salmon dinner with baked potato. It really was delish. It had some over cooked veggies of broccoli and carrots and squash on the side. The chicken tender dinner for my grandson had wonderful battered chicken tenders and they were very nice. My granddaughter got the skewer if shrimp. The fries are ok. Shrimp was very tasty but a tad over cooked. We got 2 orders to go. They forgot to add the side salads so we had to wait for those. Over all they were very busy and so I felt service was a tad slow. Bit we will try to go back and see their full menu. I would recommend trying this quaint...

We were a group of 38 people in the large room with 9ne waitress. Service was slow. When we finally got started on our salads, orders were taken. A out the time salads were eaten the rolls came out. Really good, warm rolls with butter and strawberry butter. With four choices meals were served. One steak order was wrong and everyone was served while one person waited almost 10 minutes for her meal. There was a short program and then everyone was expecting their check. The waitress went around checking to see who added a drink. Then she was off do the checks. We were assured that the tip was included. It was not, only the 3 suggested tips at the bottom. People were ready to leave and finally checks were handed out. Again, some were missing. One lady had a to go order and asked about it. The server said it was ready, just had to be boxed up. Bottom line, I felt for the one waitress. She did the best she could. Food was good. Poor planning by...

Waitress pleasant but nearly non-existent at times. She asked for drink order, mostly water and tea ordered. When she came back she quickly unloaded drink order, took off tho we we're ready to order. She was gone another 20 minutes, dashed back, left a basket of rolls and gone again. Our order wasn't taken for a good 45 min. When appetizers arrived and eaten, the plates were never taken away. Ended up stacking them middle of table to make room for main courses. Had to ask her to please take empty platters away. Meals were ok, but they had the a/c running full blast in March, so we about froze. Food cooled quickly from the continual blast of cold air. Before bringing the main course she tried to serve someone else's food order to us. When she filled out the bills, she forgot all desserts ordered and told us to tell the cashier to add them on. As we left could see her at another table. People looked like we must have: a little irritated...

The food, the staff the whole experience was top notch! If you like the blooming onion from a well know steak you have to give this place a try, 100% better. No soggy greasy bottom and the sweet potato fries with that dips.. OH MY WORD!!!! Small town family feel with some of the best seasoned meat we’ve had! Kudos for all the amazing food. Only bad item was the Carmel pie, would skip that next time but we will be back.

What surprise. Excellent food and service by Stephanie. The sauce for the blooming onion is just wonderful and the blooming onion would be a meal in itself. Had the shrimp skewer (not pictured) with a baked potato and even though I was stuff I decided to get the coconut pie and go for complete system shutdown. I’ll be back.
