Kathy May's Lakeview Cafe — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

One of the best restaurants in Orange County for a lot of reasons. Good service, good food, affordable, exceptionally nice surroundings; even the music is at the right volume. Everything is in good taste... very enjoyable.

Kathy May's Lakeview Cafe is located in beautiful Huntington Central Park. The cafe/restaurant has great options for seating, a small cozy interior dining space, an enclosed patio area and then a larger lakeside patio; almost all seating here affords a beautiful lakefront view. They have a seating area reserved for people that bring their lovely dog/s. That area is right next to the lake in a gorgeous patio... I am envious.

I recommend the 2 for $20 Special Dinner offered daily after 4pm till 8:30pm (closing time) It is hard to beat this meal deal, I think you will agree! The Special is your choice of one of four entrees: 1/2 Rack of Ribs, Fish and Chips (or other potato you choose), Spaghetti, or Chicken Fried Steak.. All are very good and the serving is generous. The meal offers you a choice of vegetable, a salad and two pieces of garlic bread. You also get to select either an appetizer or a dessert.

This place used to be almost empty a few years back. Now it is packed, since Park Bench across the street has now got insane prices. Also, this place has hash browns and Park Bench just has nasty sliced potatoes. The pluses for this place are - Three levels of seating which are outdoor patio(dog friendly) , enclosed wind protected patio(dog friendly) and indoors(no dogs) Prices way lower than Park Bench View of lake and water fowl (bird lovers dream) Hash browns 🤗 Unlimited parking that extends all the way down to Edward’s🤗 Beautiful trails that go by the Nature Center, Stables, lake, dog park, tree people sanctuary, horse trails and playground.

The only thing I don’t like about this place is the bacon. It is smoked with Sierra Mountain Mahogany which I have some reaction to. Apparently, similar varieties of Mountain Mahogany in the rockies are poisonous to livestock. I avoid their smoked meat to be on the safe side. Some of those rocky mountain and Texas Mountain Mahogany varieties contain cyanogenic...
