I have been a regular a Marlin's for a couple years. I liked the happy hour specials and would bump into locals I knew from highschool so it was a standard go-to. Tonight I and my friend who has been going weekly with me for a long time met up. Because it was World series the parking lot was packed full and he had parked his motorcycle on the edge of the walkway in front of a closed office unit. I am not familiar with bike laws but apparently this wasn't legal, although it was not obstructing any pedestrians.
Anyways we where enjoying ourselves in the bar when one of the bartenders came up behind him and asked if it was his bike. He said yes and she began an aggressive tirade about how he can't park there and he needs to move it. He was perfectly compliant and polite and said he would move it, but she was literally standing behind his chair and blocking him so he was unable to get out of the bar while she screamed "now". It was extremely awkward, the whole bar was staring.
He got up and went out to move it and I accompanied him. As he was moving it, she came out of the bar and was bantering loudly at him. I can understand he shouldn't have parked there but it seemed to me like an honest mistake and he was moving his bike without hesitation. Then he said "relax, I am moving it", very calmly. At this point she went off the hook, almost physically challenging him, and yelling never to come back to her bar. I got the impression she was the owner. I tried to intercede saying he didn't mean "relax" derogatorily (I know my friend), at which point she started yelling at me to.
The whole time he never was offensive, unresponsive or impolite. Where I come from, you don't treat your customers like trash. I don't know what her problem was, but we were regulars and I nor any of my friends or associates will be frequenting Marlin's again. HB has A LOT of great venues, but regardless, you don't treat a customer like a dog for an honest mistake even if you are the last gas...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are new in the area and were looking for a local friendly place to relax with a drink and some good food. What we found was a way beyond. The ladies greeted us two strangers with big smiles and huge welcomes. They quickly offered us drinks and menus then, gave us the low down on specials and a lil history of the bar. We felt at home immediately. That was just the beginning! The bloody marys were on point, freshly made (no mix crap), and the food! We ate every bit of it! Onion rings are fresh and crispy, Italian Sub also crispy with a great blend of meats, cheese, and peppers, and I believe he had the pastrami. It was almost all over when we said pics! So excuse the sloppy pics, but dont miss the cameo of that delish bloody mary and beer back! A great Go-To place! So happy we found The Marlin, we will be back. Thank you for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had my husbandās surprise birthday party here last month. Diane, the owner, and her staff were absolutely amazing. Diane personally helped me make sure that the surprise went down with out hitch, put on an extra bartender for the night, who was really friendly, funny, and knowledgable, and decorated. Even though it was a busy Saturday night half of the bar was dedicated just to our group. The really great band sang happy birthday to my husband, which was an added bonus. The food was the delicious and the drinks were strong. This bar is great whether youāre having a party or just hanging out. I would 100% recommend having your next party here! I could thank Diane or her staff enough for...
