Wow, where do I even begin? Writing this review pains me because I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for over 30 years. I’ve brought my mom here for dinner, raised my children enjoying meals here, and always recommended it to friends. Unfortunately, the service has significantly declined over the years, leaving me disappointed.
Several months ago, I brought my mom in for dinner. Her order was incorrect, and when we informed the server (I believe her name was Madeline), she brushed it off, claiming the kitchen was about to close and there was nothing she could do. I left upset but gave the restaurant another chance.
Last night, I dined with a friend and her 5-year-old daughter, hoping for a better experience. Sadly, it was anything but. We only waited 5 minutes to have our drink orders taken (off to a good start), it took nearly 30 minutes to receive the drinks. We weren’t able to place our meal order until then, which is incredibly frustrating with a child at the table. Our food finally arrived over an hour later. After finishing our meals, the table sat cleared but unattended for another 25 minutes before we could even get our check. Multiple servers walked by without acknowledging us.
It’s clear that the staff prioritizes socializing over service. The waitresses seemed more focused on chatting with regulars, and both managers appeared more interested in mingling with select guests than addressing the needs of all customers. This inattentiveness is shocking for a family-friendly establishment that has long catered to local parents and kids after sporting events in the local area.
The owner, Jimmy, really needs to step in and address these issues. Managers should lead by example, ensuring service runs smoothly and supporting staff when needed. For the prices customers pay, the service and food quality should meet basic expectations. Waiting over an hour for food with a child at the table is unacceptable.
Another concern worth addressing is the group of locals who regularly sit by the front entrance near the fireplace, smoking cigarettes repeatedly. While I understand this is an outdoor smoking-friendly establishment—and I say this as a smoker myself—the current setup causes smoke to flow directly into the restaurant. This creates an unpleasant experience for guests walking in.
I suggest relocating the smoking area to the back patio or a more discreet location. This would prevent guests from having to pass through a cloud of smoke or encounter groups using the space as their personal hangout spot. It would create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for all patrons.
I take no pleasure in writing this review, but the last few visits have been deeply disappointing. The service has consistently been subpar, and the food has often been incorrect or poorly prepared. I’ve always spoken highly of this place, but now I feel embarrassed for recommending it. Jimmy, please take action and get your team back on track. Longtime patrons like me are losing faith in what was once a cherished...
Read moreTerrible experience! The service was extremely slow our server was not very friendly she had no knowledge of the menu. Ordered a Rolling Rock Beer she had no idea what that was and had to go ask the bartender. We also ordered two Sprites and a lemonade she completely forgot and it took 20 minutes to get anything to drink. We ended up just walking up to the bar to get our cocktails and other drinks. We ordered food I had a sirloin steak dinner wasn't expecting much at this point, it was edible the steak was overcooked and I had a baked potato that had probably been cooked earlier in the day the outside was burned and it was very dry. My husband and our friend who brought us to my place ordered sandwiches. My friend had a Philly cheese steak sandwich it looked terrible mostly bread he was extremely disappointed as well. My husband ordered a steak sandwich with french fries the server asked him what kind of dressing he wanted on his salad he ordered Ranch. When is steak sandwich came out there were no french fries when we asked the server if the fries were coming out she said no she made a mistake and the sandwich came with either french fries or a salad, we said no problem can we get an order of fries? She explained there would be a charge for that which was fine. She never checked back in with us we flagged her down after about 15 minutes to inquire about the french fries. Surprise surprise she has forgotten the french fries? Not one time did she apologize or try to make anything right it was a weekday and not very busy but the guests that were there seemed very frustrated by the lack of service. I asked if we could speak with the manager and she replied no there is no manager here. It was just her and the bartender and the cooks who worked in the back. I definitely would not recommend my place to any of my friends or family and the person who brought us will likely not return either. I did sit outside with some other patrons to have a cigarette next to a nice fire pit had a nice conversation with them the couch was comfy and the fire pit...
Read moreWe had a weird time at this place. We were driving from LA to San Diego on a Friday night when we realized there was a game on we really wanted to see, so we looked at google and yelp for a sports bar and picked this one because it seemed to be family friendly and we were traveling with two boys.
Family Friendy indeed! There was a birthday party going on with 25+ kids occuping the entire dining room area. We would have sat in the bar but it was also full. So we made what was probably a mistake of sitting outside.
We're not originally from California, so evening temperatures in the upper 50s don't seem to be that bad to us... But apparently it's not expected that anyone would sit outside on an evening like that. So after we ordered our food at the front, we were forgotten about.
After about 20 minutes of not seeing anyone went up to the hostess, for the second time, and asked if it was okay to be sitting outside and told her we still hadn't seen a waitress. We ordered drinks from the bar and went back outside and enjoyed the nice evening and outdoor TVs with the game on.
Ten minutes later still no waitress or food we went and looked for the manager. Once we explained we hadn't been helped and our order seemed to be lost she quickly made it right. She comped our drinks and re-ordered our food which came out promptly and was very good.
I'm not giving it 5 stars because we were totally ignored for 30+ minutes, which isn't exactly ideal... But i'm giving it 4 stars because the food was great and the service after the manager straightened it out was exceptional. It's easy for a place to provide good service when everything is working the way it's suppose to, but the way a place handles a problem when it is at peak capacity and something goes wrong is more indicative of a well run business. Also the B's Burger...
