February 23rd I stopped in to order two barbecue sandwiches order of fries a plain hot dog for my daughter a regular root beer and two root beer floats and three hot dogs with sauce mustard and onions the lady that took her order brought everything out except for the three hot dogs with mustard sauce and onions I proceeded to yell at the lady in a good way to get her attention to come to the truck I told her that the three hot dogs of sauce mustard onion was not in the bag everything else was there she advised me that they was already closed and already throwed everything away but they would take care of me well brought the three hot dogs out 5 10 minutes later the hot dog buns was hard they wasn't soft like they normally are when we order them and I got her attention again she come to the truck and I told her that the hot dogs wasn't good and she took them back the manager came out and said he took $6 out of his pocket to pay for the hot dogs to refund them to me I told him that the hot dogs wasn't in the bag he proceeded to tell me he watched me eat the hot dogs to begin with so he's trying to say that I've got free hot dogs I'm wanting the money back I told him he can search the truck I drive all the way from Ohio over here a special trip to buy hot dogs at least once a week but I will be calling the owner tomorrow the better business bureau or something I also have some of the conversation recorded if anybody wants to hear it he proceeded to yell and scream at me and say we're closed get off the lot only thing I wanted was the three hot dogs that I paid for to begin with... I really wish I could talk to the owners if they would contact me it's really important your manager yelled and screamed at me in the parking lot for no reason accuse me of eating the three hot dogs and letting them know that they didn't make the hot dogs for me there are no way I could eat three hot dogs in less than 5 minutes to open up the bag and pull everything out if the owner sees this please contact me it's very urgent I want to make this right I didn't do nothing wrong this is really got me upset I'm on a life vest wearing it day after day after day I only have 18% of my heart working I have no reason to lie about this and I would give your manager his $6 back that he said that he took out his own pocket to pay for the hot dogs I don't want no problems I just want to sit the story straight we drive all the way from Ohio for hot dogs there at least once a week just jump in the truck and go to West Virginia for no other reason other than frost top hot dogs I think your manager overreacted in fact I don't think he overreacted I know he...
Read moreFrom over 350 locations in the 60s, Frostop Drive-in is down to just 13 locations so it's a fading part of America's fast food history. There's only one in WV then the next closest is in Indiana, with the majority in Louisiana. Being a part of history, and with my only other walk-to option being McDonald's, I had to give it a try.
I wasn't disappointed though I would suggest if it's a hot day, eat in your car. The outdoor seating is fun and nostalgic but is uncomfortable in hot weather, and if you're eating with more than one other person, somebody's going to have to sit in the sun.
The service was top rate. The car hops were friendly and knowledgeable about their products, and the food came out quickly. The prices are good for the fresh and hot food you receive.
The food quality was pretty good though the french fries were nothing to write home about, though they didn't deserve a complaint. The burgers are 1/5 pound patties so a double is a good size. The meat seemed fresh and was cooked well. The toppings (mayo, pickles, lettuce and tomatoes) also seemed fresh and were tasty. The double cheeseburger I got was very good, but I wouldn't rank it up with many other specialty burgers, though definitely better than most other fast food burgers. The root beer (their signature recipe) was very good and refreshing, as you would expect. I was given the choice of a frosted mug or a to-go cup and opted for the cup, wanting to take the rest with me, though the mug probably would have been more fun (and nostalgic).
So, I wouldn't drive too far for it, but if in town I would certainly eat at Frostop again. It's an especially good choice if you're at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, being right...
Read moreIt really pains me to write this review as I grew up eating here often, but I have been here three times in the las two months and it is like a different place. The 1st time I sked for extra mustard and they put so much on it that you could only see yellow. Inside the bun, on top, bottom and side of the bun. It was someone being "funny". Unfortunately, I did not notice until I got back to work. The next time we pulled in the lot and no one came to the car. I honked and no one. I then went to the area where the employees are and got yelled at that it is for employees only and I need to either return to my vehicle or go to a table. I explained we had been in the car and no one came. I was then ignored so we left. Yesterday (07/09/2025) we came and other than one other couple there, we were the only customers other than the random car pulling in and out. The fried were burnt and cold, the hot dogs were completely smothered in catchup even though light ketchup was requested on two. We didn't eat, just threw it away and left. I sent pictures to their Facebook message just to let them know what was being served because as a former restaurant owner I would want to know, only to be met with a very rude response. It is clear the management here has changed, if not, something is seriously wrong. I work in an office with 60 people and it has been mentioned how bad they have gotten lately, but from the response I received, they don't care. This is sad as FT is a staple in Huntington and use to be so great. But it is nothing like...
