Parkside Pub — Restaurant in Huntley

So after so many people suggesting we try Parkside for their amazing ribs and delicious burgers we finally decided to try it last night. We ordered through door dash originally as their site directed us to do. Door dash was a nightmare! What was supposed to take 25 min for delivery turned into an hour. They notified us that there was no dasher and that they were looking for one. For 20 min we got this message after waiting an hour with no update! So finally after and hour and 20 min and not being able to get a hold of a representative.. we cancelled the order. I called Parkside right away and explained the situation. I was super irritated at Door dash. The girl who answered the phone was great! I explained that I didn't want the food that had been sitting for an hour and a half and she had no issues having it remade. When we got there they had a fresh order ready for us and even gave us the cold order for what it was worth. She was so pleasant and not rude or anything because of my request. The food was AMAZING! The burgers were HUGE! and cooked exactly how we asked. They were not dry and had good flavor. The pulled pork smelled great as well. I didn't eat it but my son said it was really good and much bigger than he expected it to be. I had the ribs. I definitely recommend the ribs! They were just enough sweet and tangy with a kick! And they were also cooked perfectly! They took such an irritating experience and turned it right around. We will definitely be back! Great...

ATTENTION CUSTOMERS: BEWARE OF UNSAFE KITCHEN PRACTICES. I stopped in this evening and went to the bar to place my food order to go. I was sitting right next to the kitchen window. I ordered three entrees, a chili and two orders of the soup of the day. The two orders of soup were brought out by the kitchen runner in a plastic bag 10 minutes after I placed my order. The rest of my food order wasn't brought out for another 45 minutes. I asked the kitchen runner for two new soups due to the other two sitting out at the bar while the rest of my food was being made. I watched as the runner placed the plastic bag containing the two cold soups on the metal ledge outside of the kitchen. The chef then grabbed the bag of soups and handed them to one of the other kitchen staff members. The kitchen staff member prepared two new soups in two new containers. He then took out the two cold soups from the plastic bag and put the new hot soups in the to go bag. I then watched as he took off the plastic lids from the two containers of cold soup and proceeded to pour my cold soups back into the metal container with the rest of the prepared soup of the day. After seeing this disturbing and unsafe action taking place in the kitchen at Parkside pub, I am concerned about other possible unsafe and potentially contaminating actions the kitchen staff could be doing putting Parkside Pub customers at risk for food borne illnesses. I will not be returning back to this...

First negative experience but deserving of a review. Went on a Friday. BAD decision. Their Friday fish fry clearly overwhelms the staff and they were not at all prepared. Was waiting well over an hour for our food (a wrap and street tacos). Finally told server to cancel our order and we’d pay for our appetizer and soda. He agreed and apologized. Minutes later he approached our table with our order in a to-go bag. Like what?! And then said he gave us a discount. Why am I paying for food I said I didn’t want?! Not wanting to make a scene, I paid and left. Proceeded to go eat outside in the square where we discovered our order wasn’t even correct! Talk about furious. I walked back over and spoke with a manger who said I couldn’t get a refund but she’d give me a gift card. Not thrilled because why would I got back, but I agreed. When she finally returned she said there no gift cards and handed me $30 cash. Better than a gift card and ultimately only paid for our appetizer and soda. In the end it was handled fine I guess. But they need to up their staffing, train servers better to handle crowds and delays. And maybe don’t offer a full menu PLUS the fish fry when they clearly...
