Pub 47 — Restaurant in Huntley

UPDATE: I wanted to update my review to highlight the efforts made by the team at Pub 47 in addressing my concerns. I especially want to thank Jordan T. for going above and beyond to assure me that this was an isolated incident and that steps have been taken to prevent it from happening again. We're looking forward to returning to Pub 47 soon, hoping to enjoy the great food and service we're used to. We have been to Pub 47 on many occasions and for the most part we have been pleased with the food and service, and left a positive review. Today we had a very poor experience. So much so that I feel the need to write a new review. As we were seated we noticed a number of flies in the restaurant area. Our server (Grace) greeted us and took our order. While we were waiting for our food the flies got worse. There were so many around us we were using the menus to shoo and swat them. On a nearby table other customers noticed our situation and commented to us that they too were inundated with flies. We counted more than half a dozen around our table alone, it was very concerning to us as flies in that number are often an indication of poor sanitation. It was so bad we were at the point of asking for our food to go, then our server delivered our order to our table and so we decided to stick it out. This is where we had the second issue. My wife had ordered her "usual" Cheese Curds, a full order. What was brought out to the table was barley half an order. We asked our server if there was a mistake and had we been given a half order. Her reply was a flat "No", when we challenged that answer providing feedback that we order this every time we eat at Pub 47 the answer was still a firm "No" followed up with "they just put in as much as they like, so the amount you get can vary", we were shocked at that answer. Now my wife takes pictures of her food and shares it on social media so she did a quick look on her phone and found pictures of the last 4 times she ordered cheese curds, the difference was significant. About 5mins later our server, Grace followed up with us and said she asked in the kitchen and confirmed we had a full order, we then showed her a couple of pictures from previous orders. Her reply was "nothing I can do about it". We ate a little of our food and then asked for to-go boxes as we were tired of fighting with the flies. Paid the bill, left a tip...

So I have to edit this review because management from the restaurant actually took the time to call me personally and refund part of our order. That shows a tremendous amount of care and courtesy and excellent customer service. Like I mentioned, the food was fantastic. The takeout experience was not so great but they made up for it above and beyond by showing that they care and by wanting to rectify the situation. Thank you for taking care of your customers. Five stars across the board. And next time we’ll stop in.

Original comment. I can’t comment too much on the atmosphere because we got the dinner to go, but the portions for takeout were ridiculous and careless. I gave them almost a ten dollar tip only for them to forget two of our salads. Had to go back. I ordered the shrimp which was fantastic. But for the price, not worth it. Got about five pieces of shrimp, no coleslaw, not even cocktail sauce. So fifteen bucks got me a few shrimp and fries. My son said it was the best beef sandwich he’s ever had. But again, the price is ridiculous for the size sandwich he got. Which is the reason for the rating. Spent a total of $75 for dinner which included the tip and I’m still hungry. Food is really, unusually good. Not just for a bar, but for any restaurant. Expect to spend about 20 bucks/person. Though there are meals for about 10, so with tax tip and drink 15/person.

My only real complaint is service is quite often really slow. I'm sitting here writing this review right now, totally ready to order, it's not even busy, and I've been trying to get the waiters attention for almost 10 minutes. There are two of them at the bar, I guess because a table ordered a lot of drinks I'm just not allowed to place my order.

Like any bar it gets intolerably loud anytime it's busy. Though I will say I haven't heard it as bad as other places, I've also never been here when it was packed to capacity.

Wifi is so slow it doesn't count. It works, technically, but not often and not enough to even load facebook.

After waiting over 20 minutes I just left. I won't be coming back here despite how good the burgers are. This is the fifth time I have waited far too long when it's not even...
