I have waited to give a review because I wanted to give a fair review. Today though I just found the hostess lack of customer service baffling. Everyone is usually nice there and it was super busy because of Cinco de mayo. me and my husband walked up to the hostess stand and saw she was in the middle of seating which is fine. She walks back up literally says nothing won't even look at us to say hi ,kiss my butt ,nothing. You could tell she was ignoring us. So rude! We literally stood there for 15 min before even getting acknowledged and her acknowledgment was. "Are you on the list?" Like why would I be standing in front of you waiting on you if I was on the list? The server and manager were very nice.
So the reason for my 1 star. The food is disgusting. I have been here 4 times and have tried different entrees each time. The chicken and steak are bland. The ground beef honestly taste worse than taco bell's I got sick later on from it. Their chips are always burnt tasting. I will say their margaritas are great but there are just other restaurants that taste better.
Also no fault of their own I am sure but you can barely move around in the restaurant. If you are going to the bathroom and someone else is walking you have to stand to the side to...
Read moreEditing after our second try: We ordered 4 types of tacos (ground beef, grilled chicken, pastor, and steak), the tomatillo salsa, Chile Colorado sauce, and the pollo/steak con queso to try something different. The pork taco was the favorite! The grilled chicken was a lot better than the shredded chicken we previously tried. Both sauces were good, and it was nice that the Chile Colorado was milder than most. All the food was good and they also gave us a free queso for ordering online! Corralejos will definitely be added into our normal restaurant rotation!
Ordered take out to try the food since they opened recently and was pleasantly surprised! I would give 4.5/5 stars. The ground beef, enchilada sauce and rice were more flavorful than some of the other restaurants in the area. Only tried the enchiladas supremas, rice and beans, but we will definitely dine in and try some of the other menu items! Only complaint would be that the chicken was a little tough, but the...
Read moreThe flour tortillas were very basic. Warmed up, not toasted at all. Likely out of a bag next door from Publix. The carnitas lacked any depth of flavor and texture. I typically like carnitas that are moist and tender but have a crispy outside. These were most but not much flavor, not much meat either. The rice was actually pretty good. The salsa for the chips was plain tomato sauce flavored and the chips themselves were not good quality. I asked for any hotter sauce they had and they brought out a small bowl which had the best and, once mixed with the salsa, was much better. Los Tres Garcia's on North Parkway is way better for carnitas.
This place is Mexican food tailored for Alabama taste buds, and that's how you get Rosie's and Bandito Burrito. Horrible places that people from here...
