1st time going. Waited inside not sure what to do, no please pay here or wait to be seated sign. Had to ask a fellow customer. Walked up to the young short hair girl on her phone. She continued her texting as she cashed us out, $40. There was 3 of us. We were able to take out cash for tip. But she didn’t stop with the phone at all during that time. The food was just above lukewarm and bland, just ok. The salad bar wasn’t all the way filled up so by the time I finished what little salad I made, I saw other toppings I didn’t get due to it not being there. Tried a fried green tomato. I think they would be good but not to much here. They were greasy and the breading slid right off. They didn’t feel like they were drained of the grease at all. They only have one toilet per gender. Just one each for that size restaurant. They did offer sugar free cake which was nice. The server was great, lots of people, we went about 5. $40 just didn’t seem worth it.

These bumper stickers that management has plastered all around the interior directing us to tip are offensive! This is a completely self-service buffet. Drinks are refilled occasionally, if you're lucky, by wait staff who smile, but have no reason for any real guest interaction. WE SERVE OURSELVES HERE, SONNY, IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED. I tip $2 per guest. If your wait staff is not receiving the customary 15 to 25% gratuity that their friends are receiving at full service, sit down restaurants, then maybe it's because you don't operate a full service, sit down restaurant!! We rise from our tables and serve ourselves at your buffet. Wait staff do not handle our plates of food at any time. What is your suggested tip percentage? I challenge management to respond.

"VERY GOOD!" Yesterday (Sunday, June 30, 2024) I dined at Kacey's Home Cooking, a buffet restaurant on South Parkway, in Huntsville, Alabama. Many months ago, I was a frequent customer of Kacey's, but--to no fault of their's--I've not eaten there very often lately. Nevertheless, Sunday's buffet did not disappoint. It was very good. As usual, there was quite a variety of different dishes to choose from. I was very pleased with everything that I selected that day. I'd like to give a special "shout out" to Josephine, our server, who did a fantastic job. And, compliments to everyone involved in preparing and providing such a wonderful dining experience. 👍 👍 Sincerely, G. Curtis Monday, July 1, 2024

Food is great for the price. The only issue I have noticed is that the ambience doesn’t match the type of customer. The customers tend to be older, 40+ and especially seniors, sort of down-to-earth folks and the music is loud rock music from a local radio station. I guarantee you that not one of these folks play this particular station in their cars or listen to it at home. Seeing this on more than one occasion, I wonder if the employees, who are young, turn it on to this station because it’s what they like. If the manager allows this, it’s a glaring mistake. These old people come there to experience a relaxing, family-style atmosphere where they can enjoy a good meal—not a club-like environment. One other thing. About the service. Overall, it’s decent, but could be improved upon. All the servers seem to be nice, but I had server trying to finish his shift (it was about 3:30-ish), and he was using a loud, mechanical push vacuum next to me. He had a large area and could have moved elsewhere or said sorry or communicated something, but he just ground away, over and over and over, right beside me (about 2 feet). Earlier, when I came with a plate of food, he was standing right in front of my seat. I have no problem going around, but I could not get to my seat without him moving. He was talking to another server. I stopped and waited. The other server said something and he glanced over suddenly, but then went back to talking! Then, it’s like it ovcurred to him and he suddenly moved. It’s not that I believe he was intentionally being rude—I believe he was completely oblivious, as was he when he vacuumed beside me. Case #3. Another trip, my server didn’t show up for quite some time to bring my drink after I was seated. Once I saw who she was, I saw her go back to the server station in the back and go back to talking. She only came by twice more after that. That’s okay, but other times she went by singing along with the song on the radio snd was offkey. Back to the ambience thing. And she talked really lound about her job to another customer about a bad day she was having. Something about another customer, I think. “Oh, honey, what comes around goes around. If they didn’t want to leave a good tip, it’s on them. I’m used to it.” Anyway, the food is great and the price is good, but the servers seem like they’ve had no training. That and the loud rock music destroys the ambience if you’re looking for a quiet, family atmosphere. Kacey’s mgt seems oblivious to the customer and needs to address this. Such an easy fix!!! Otherwise,...

I recently visited Kacey’s Home Cooking and found the experience to be average overall. The buffet is on the smaller side, and for what’s offered, the price felt a bit high. That said, the food was served hot, which is always appreciated at a buffet-style restaurant.

Food Quality

The selection leans toward classic Southern comfort dishes—fried chicken, greens, and other staples. While the items were fresh and warm, most of the food was noticeably under-seasoned. The quality was acceptable but not particularly impressive, especially given the price point. Guests looking for bold flavors or a wide variety may be disappointed, while those wanting straightforward, traditional Southern items may find it more suitable.

Service

Service was the most underwhelming part of the visit. The restaurant wasn’t busy, yet our drinks sat empty through most of our meal. We eventually had to flag someone down for a refill, which shouldn’t happen in a lightly occupied dining room. The service wasn’t rude, just inattentive and below expectations.

Atmosphere & Value

The atmosphere is simple and unpretentious, in line with a casual home-cooking buffet. However, the limited variety and lack of seasoning made the overall value feel weaker than comparable options in the area.

Final Thoughts

Kacey’s Home Cooking wasn’t a fit for me personally, and I don’t plan to return, though I don’t regret giving it a try. I have friends who enjoy this place, so it’s possible my experience was simply an off day. If you’re looking for a small, straightforward Southern buffet, you may find what you’re after—just don’t expect much variety or...

So my family and I were looking for some home style /southern food for a late lunch today (2-15-25), and we stumbled upon Kasey's buffet. As we were driving there, my wife was looking at all the reviews and said this place sounds good. When we pulled up, I was skeptical, but I said, "Let's try it anyway." For my wife myself and 4 kids under 8, it cost us $ 69 and some change. I was like, for what!? Once we got the food, it went straight downhill. My daughter didn't want to be rude, so she wrote me a note on her notepad she had and said "daddy I don't like the fish. It's nasty, " so I tried a piece, and it was so salty it wasn't edible. She wanted to get a biscuit, and I told her no cause they were overcooked. I could have thrown them at the glass, and it would have broken the glass. The chicken had no seasoning on it at all. The country fried steak probably had been sitting there since lunch started cause it was hard. The green beans tasted like they were dropped straight out of a can just to heat them up. The mash potatoes were bland. The only things that were somewhat enjoyable were steak tips and onions and french fries. Everything up on the bar was nasty or nasty looking. We can say that it has been marked off the places to eat at ever again. Like I said, we paid that much money to eat some fruit, fries, pudding, cake, and a little ice cream. I highly recommend staying away from here unless you like overcooked food with no...
