We were really excited about a wine bar opening up in Hutto because we love wine and there aren't a lot of upscale bars in the area. Unfortunately our first visit left much to desired, which we've included more details on below. It's not to say we won't be back, but we were disappointed to say the least.
The service was poor - there were two people behind the counter the entire time we were there just talking to each other. We had dogs with us and asked if we could walk through the building to the patio area, or if we needed to walk around. We were told to walk around, which is fine, but they said they would give us water bowls for our dogs and never ended up coming outside to greet us or give them water (I ended up filling a water bowl myself using the faucet attached to the building).
The wine was WAY too overpriced for the quality - we looked up the glasses being served, and they were priced the the same as buying an entire bottle. We understand there needs to be an up charge but they're basically profiting 4-5x on each bottle which is ridiculous (this in itself almost made us leave before ordering anything).
When we went up to the bar to order wine, it was not being stored properly - reds were just sitting out on the counter at room temp versus being stored at the proper temperature - again very frustrating when it's already overpriced.
Other very minor things: Don't have a handle on the back door going out to the patio (my husband couldn't hold two glasses for us and open the door at the same time, and neither person behind the bar came over to help him so I had to get up and open it for him). Make the door a push door or something. Add music outside - we were just sitting out there in silence
With all of the above being said, there isn't enough differentiating this place in terms of atmosphere, quality, service or value for us to want to return. We really want to support this business, but the experience was all wrong and the above need...
Read moreI recently went in with my wife, while we were taking a stroll in the area, and it just so happened to also be World Hippo Day, so there were food and vendors out on the streets. Anyway we decided to visit Meg and have a nice glass of wine. She happened to be out of the establishment, but her wine tenders immediately recognized us and were very friendly and greeted us by our first names!
They had a few exclusive bottles on special to compliment the holiday, but I decided to stick to my personal fav (the one with the little horse on it), as it never fails. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. The weather was so nice, we decided to sit on the back patio, and let me tell you, it was like I was in heaven. Nice weather, great people, and good vibes all around. LOVED IT. Definitely going back!
I forgot to get a bottle to go, so we will be back...
Read moreLove HWB! I came in here while my husband was hosting a networking event next door in our office space. I was not feeling like socializing at that time so I decided to go chill next door at Hutto Wine Bar. I was by myself and I feel so comfortable being there. The staff did not make me feel uncomfortable and greeted me in a welcoming way. I grab a glass of Chardonnay and sat there to relax and wine down.
Meg, the owner is awesome! She is funny, friendly and extremely welcoming. HWB is Women owned and fun fact a lot of her wine selection is produce and owned by women.👏🏼
I’m a huge advocate in supporting local, Hutto is lucky to have HWB in their community! I’ll definitely will...
