Alice's Bar-B-Que LLC — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I was in Alice on the 4th of October, 2023. Excited about the ribs because I haven't been there in awhile. I placed the order a little bit after they opened. The lady that took the order was nice and professional. I ordered (2) large order of ribtips and an extra order of fries. After paying almost $50 for both orders getting home and opened up my bag almost all of the ribtips was burnt and a few was in there that was not cooked well, which was very tough. I was very upset about my food and the price that I paid. My sister called me to tell me that most of her order was burnt also and hardly any sauce on the ribtips, I guess it was a shorter on the sauce. I called the next day to speak with a supervisor or manager and a guy answered the phone to say that she wasn't in yet. So I asked him what is her name and again he was wasn't going to give me her name. I explained to him what happened to my food and he asked if I still had the food and I said no but I had a picture, which he ignored. I told him that I came all the way from Country Club Hills but it didn't matter I could tell that from the beginning. So he goes on to tell me that he would tell the supervisor or manager and that he was sorry that happened. I didn't expect him to say or do anything different. I did let him know that I would not be coming back there...

I went into this 'establishment' today to get some bbq. I have heard so many good things about the food. But the wait time is totally DISRESPECTFUL!!. I placed my order at 1205p, was told it would be about 45 minutes to 1 hour wait. OK.. cool, i went to Walmart and came back at 1255p. At around 120p i asked if my order was ready as myself and others that were there before I arrived saw LOTS of bagged orders sitting on the counter. Come to find out some of these orders were for the workers' friends and family that while we were waiting about 4 of them came in, knocked on the side door, went in and came right back out with their orders. ALL OF THIS WHILE OTHER CUSTOMERS INCLUDING MYSELF WERE WAITING IN THE FLY INFESTED LOBBY. After I saw this, I asked when my order would be ready and was told "in about 20 minutes", I requested a refund. That was the last time I will ever go to this establishment. The staff is rude and disrespectful, no one offered an apology for the LONG wait or nothing. Nor did they offer an apology for the damn flies that were in the lobby, you would think that with the entrance right off the alley, they would have a screen door up. And with that i will never eat there !!..... I wonder how the hell did they get voted one of CHICAGO's BEST... their standards must...

In the 90s and 2000s this was my go to BBQ on the southside. Went in on Saturday 2/8/25 and was thoroughly disappointed. Let’s start with the food. Ordered a large tip (24.24 price w/tax). Tips looked like they were hacked up in any type of way. The tips were seasoned but barely had any flavor had more bone and gristle than meat. It took an hour on a walk in to get my order seems like they were prioritizing door dash orders over regular orders. Service was terrible. The older lady who took my order had a bad attitude did not communicate how long the wait would be and when I asked she replied very nastily I had about another 40 minutes. There is no call in option only door dash. Wait times are long and there is not seating in the lobby. Staff was just plain ghetto. This area is changing and if they want to stay in business they need to change with the times. I would not recommend going here the food quality has fallen off. The staff is unprofessional and do not communicate clearly. The atmosphere is terrible again wait times up to an hour and no seating in the restaurant. At this point just seems like they are open just based off past reputation. Get with the times or go out...
