Hey it's meHey it's me
This is a wonderful black owned business. We were finally able to get down here and try it. We tried the Strawberry lemonade, Caramel, Butter pecan praline, and Red Velvet with nuts. I must say the cakes are deliciously moist. My favorite is the caramel. I could eat the caramel with a spoon out the bowl. It was amazing. The cakes are $13 including tax. The customer service and welcome we received was amazing. They have a warm welcoming spirit. Great customer service. Just a note they open at 11am but it's best to get there at 10am because they have a line and they are open until they sell out. We got here at 930am. We were like 5th in line. They seem to sell out within 2 hrs. So get there early. There is parking on the street but you do have to pay to park. The line moves fast, so don't worry. Try the caramel it is delightful, you won't be disappointed.

Ok so as far as my weekday visit (I can only imagine the weekend), it was an "experience." Numbers are given out prior to opening at 11am. After receiving your number, you then get in line before 11 in order of the number received. I arrived at 9:30am. I received my number at 10am. Once I made it in, I received free shots of Lemonade that they have for sale. I tried The Berry Hibiscus and it was good. As for the cakes, The Strawberry Lemonade one (the icing) was soooo sweet. Eh.....The Pineapple Paradise (a popular one) was alright. I think the reviews from folks saying how moist the cakes are is because of the juice the cakes sit in. Nothing made me wanna "slap" someone for being THAT good. I'm glad the business is booming and that I checked it off my list. I say try them at least once for yourself. Good luck! I don't have to go back.

I went there for my brother and I ended up getting the peach cobbler cake. I only got one slice of it because my son ate the majority of it before I could try it. All he could say was ā€œI need to try itā€ lol. I finally was able to get another peach cobbler and I ate it within 2 hours. It truly satisfied my want for a peach cobbler that I had. It wasn’t too sweet and I love that they give you that extra cobbler juice. I took the red velvet cake to work and my co-workers loved it. I had it in the fridge for a week before I took it to work and it was still moist. One of them got the pineapple cake and loved it. Their cakes, for me, are just the perfect size to satisfy my sweet tooth that I don’t often have. It’s a MUST try. The owners are very nice, welcoming, and good conversation both times I have gone.

Ive never written a review but felt compelled to after trying these cakes! First time I tried them I got a flight and tried all seven flavors. Each one is AMAZING in its own unique way, and they are all moist, flavorful, delicious, and did I say MOIST! I love key lime pie and had never had key lime cake….so good. I dont like nuts on dessert but that butter pecan praline is so amazing! I started drinking coffee so I could enjoy it with the cake lmaobs. Delicious combo. The red velvet and caramel are SO good. The caramel is homemade. Well Everything here is homemade. For peach cobbler lovers theres a peach cobbler cake!! 🤤🤤🤤 If I absolutely have to choose my favorites are chocolate oreo dream (real oreos, delish choco cake and the best damn icing) and pineapple paradise. Real pineapples throughout paired with the perfect icing. Ok this one might be my fave lmao šŸbut They each have amazing icing that pairs perfectly, and an ample amount of it, and delicious flavor. I will update this with pics next time….devoured too quickly!

DAMN I wrote an essay but theyre that good! And its black owned, with really, humble, friendly owners. The cakes are $12 and theyre so rich and delicious, it usually takes me about 3 days to finish, sometimes longer. After this thesis I now have to go get one. Get there early! And in the words of ole girl from Instagram, ā€œyall better go get you one of theseā€!...

Visited Chicago this weekend, from Indiana and RAN over to Pookie's to get some of this Tik Tok famous cake and NOTHING!!!!! See we try to patronize "our" people and this stuff happens. First of all, you say you open at 11, HOWEVER you started giving "numbers"...Second, stood in this stupid line and didn't get what I wanted. This type of business practice is very disheartening for the black community! If I was in another area of town, I would have had my needs met. If you open at 11, at 11:51, there would have been sufficient inventory for those of us that stood in that darn line!!! You don't allow people to have access to the business 2 to 3 hours early, it's a bad business practice, not to mention the gentleman ringing up people was yelling at some lady about buying to many pr something and then they CLAIMED to sell some lady their 2 Carmel cakes....smh!!!

PLEASE DO BETTER BLACK PEOPLE, THIS IS WHAT HURTS OUR COMMUNITY!!!!!!

And another thing, ain't nobody lied, I am right with God, but from what I can see, instead of you trying to rectify my dissatisfaction in your business, you have only made an already messed up situation, even more messed up.

I feel like you are BIG mad, I'm sorry you feel angry, but as I stated and stand on business......DO BETTER BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!!! YOU WILL GO FAR, IF YOU ARE GENUINE, YOUR DISINGENUOUS ATTITUDE WILL GET...

Lawd...you need to stop by Pookie Crack Cakes in Chicago and get you some! I was in town from Pittsburgh visiting my sister and we stopped by...these cakes are worth every cent and every minute of the wait! The flavors... absolutely, positively delightful. The texture...creamy icing and incredibly moist cake (yes, even a few days later!) The service...a small but super cute storefront with top notch professionalism and hospitality! Baked fresh, in-house, and only available each day until that day's batch is sold out. I went in to get 1, walked out with 4 (and my sister grabbed 3 of her own, too). The key lime loaf barely made it back to the house. The lemon drip, chocolate Oreo dream, butter pecan praline, and caramel barely survived the trip back to Pittsburgh because we couldn't stop eating them on the road. I have never tasted cake this good, and I make it my business to know good cake everywhere I go. Trust me...one bite & you'll be addicted. I see why they sell out daily, and since they don't do online orders or shipping/delivery, make sure you follow the instructions/process on their social media so you don't miss out on getting some. Thank you, Pookie Crack Cakes...we loved every bite. The next time we visit the city, we will definitely be...
