Birrieria Ocotlan — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I purchased two large birrias from them just this past Sunday. I noticed that they do not weight the orders. The person who had ordered before me got a large order that looked well served. I order two and they looked like two small ones. I paid 40,00 for what I thought was a very good amount of birria. When I opened the aluminum foils and looked at the two orders, I got upset. They orders were tiny in comparison to other orders. I went back and spoke with one employee about the situation. We were talking about the sizes of the orders when I dude who claimed to be the owner intervened and with a loud voice said no problem who does not like free food. Well, that was not "free food" I paid 40 dollars worth of birria and I felt I got robbed. Also, those guys accept only cash for their services. Most likely they do not report all of their profits to the state. What a bunch of thieves! I will never spend my money at this...

This place is great, for all my first timers like my self this place is self seating in front or back . The waiters are prompt, and great with their service. Now to time to explain the Birria, the most tender and season meat you have ever tasted with not fat just meat followed by the best tasting broth. The Birria is generally serve with onion and cilantro or what you prefer. The tortilla tostadas complemented the Birria better than regular tortillas in my opinion .

I’ve been to several Birria locations in the Chicagoland area from Little Village, Archer Heights, Pilsen and West Lawn area, but this location hands down is the best.

A friend and I have a joke when we go here we always say we’re going to go visit our “tia” (one of the waitresses I wish I knew her name!) because that’s exactly how you get treated when you go there like FAMILY! The food is absolutely amazing best birria in Chicago. When my family from out of town comes to visit this is always their first stop. You can’t get birria like this anywhere else.
