Nicky'z Gyros — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

We are new in this neighborhood and decided to try this place out. Placed an order for gyro plate, pizza puff & hamburger. My toddler seemed to enjoy her pizza puff but what really I am reviewing is the gyro plate with fries. The meat is DRY… not juicy or savory, the seasoning is ok but dam the only part I enjoyed most was the fresh tomato… the onions aren’t even cut fresh. Seemed like they were cut previously and hanging out in the refrigerator for 2 days. The pita bread wasn’t soft, the sauce was too watery/runny. Also the meat is cut thick not thin…and the amount of fries it came with is sad. Their called Nickyz gyros… which implies that they should be specialized in gyros but that’s not the case. Nicky'z is my favorite stop every time I visit Chicago, usually visiting 4-6 times in a week. The food quality is top-notch, and the menu is so diverse that even the pickiest of people will find something they like. My family especially likes the typical Chicago fare: Italian beef (with home-grown peppers), gyros, hot dogs, fish & shrimp dinners & Italian sausage. The fries rival McDonald's, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for what you get. Dine-in seating is limited, as it is a small space (most take theirs to go). The food is meh at best and the service is horrible. I ordered 2 hot dogs and a chicken pita and had special instructions. I ordered these through DoorDash. I placed my order. 5 minutes later I got an email saying that the restaurant added an extra $8 and change to my order because of the special instructions. The only things I changed where having no tomato on the chicken pita and only having ketchup and mustard on the two hot dogs.
