Pepe's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I went into this location bought two TACOS, and found a spider in one of the tacos I went back to return them and was only refunded for 1 , the owner accused me of putting a spider in the food and returning it , I work for cta so this was in a matter of minutes of returning the food on my break . I spoke with the owner who talked over me and then seemed to reason with me once I brought up his restrant in our community and being able to relate with customers instead of getting frustrated saying this didn't happen .then he apologized but didn't return my 3.55 cent why do they put restrants their business in our communities and treat us like animals , less than were not broke we just have bad spending habits . The leadership he revealed shows he really didn't address my concerns nor did he care . So basically he saying I brought the food put a spider in it and took the time while working at cta to bring it back make it make sence . Meanwhile the cook mentioned to the lady with blondish red hair that an exterminator was there . How did I know this because theydiscussed it in my face but it didn't mean anything to the owner do not spend black dollars here . Let them make the money to the people they respect . Also what have they did for the community since covid have they gave out free masks anything to our neighborhood . But have made thousands off disrespecting , rude customer service wake up my people stop supporting them when they could care less about you a simple refund of 3.55 would've ended...

BEWARE!!! I called in a phone order for a steak taco dinner. Two dinners actually. I was being charged $19 for each dinner. Once I arrived I asked to see a menu and the price on the menu for the steak dinner said $15.95. I asked for him to break down the price and he told me that the price can change at any time. That is so unprofessional and very fishy. I wouldn’t even eat from this place because of the audacity for them to create their prices whenever they want to. They can charge whomever they want different prices when they want. Three dollars more than the price on the menu?? That’s insane!! And he tried to charge me for extra sour cream for each taco, which is six tacos. It’s $.30 a taco. But on the menu, it says that the taco dinner already comes with sour cream. He was trying to bamboozle me out of my money. It was insane! I will never support them ever again. They should be ashamed...

Pepe's is my neighborhood Mexican restaurant with me right in between this location and the one on 83rd n Cottage Grove. I usually only go to Pepe's on Tuesdays or Thursdays as chicken, beef and pork tacos are $1.29 on those days.Overall the food's just ok in my opinion so if I was looking for really good Mexican food I would probably go somewhere else but I'd also have to travel to do so. I wanna stress that the food's not bad but not great abs they do have an extensive menu that also includes many familiar Mexican dishes like burritos, tortas, tostadas, etc..., American items like a burger a fries and also horchata and smoothies. The service is usually pretty good, the dining area and bathrooms are usually clean ans orderly and if you come at the right hours you may even catch Ms. Gee, a pleasant older woman who sometimes sells homemade...
