Taqueria El Taquin — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I thought this place was legit and have been here on approximately 5 occasions in the past two months. On 24 April 2022, I was with a friend, and a series of troubling events occurred that bear my informing any future customers. At approximately 7 PM on that date above, I requested one more shot of Cazadores and one more Dos Equis beer. The receipt attached shows that I had three prior Dos Equis and one shot of Cazadores. The waitress gave me an additional receipt for approximately $15.00, but never delivered my drinks. After waiting approximately 5 minutes or so, I informed our waitress that she did not pour the shot and did not give me the Beer. She then summoned a second waitress. My friend and I explained the situation to her. That waitress then disappeared for a moment, and a male subject appeared behind the Bar. We explained the error to him, and that I never received the drinks. The unknown male took the receipt, explaining that he has seen us in the restaurant on several occasions and as a result he was not going to charge me for the two drinks that I NEVER received. He explained he has cameras which actually made me feel better. I told him that I was glad they had cameras and wanted them to look at the video. Needless to say, they never showed me anything and never gave me the drinks I had ordered. This establishment embarrassed me and my friend wrongfully in front of other customers. They never gave me the drinks I ordered and treated me like I had done something wrong. I posted about the situation on The Hegewisch Community page basically requesting that I wanted them to show the video to clear up the situation. That post was immediately removed. They know they were wrong and refuse to make amends by admitting their mistake. Needless to say I wasted hundreds of dollars at this place and was treated like garbage. I was starting to get used to coming here with my family. But, a change of heart ❤️ last night. It was a family of 2 adults, 1 teen and 2 lil ones. We have gone before and paid the most $55-$65. But, last night Uuuuh weeee. Didn't even order expensive items came out to $103 & change. Man, be careful that GRATUITY will get you unexpectedly like it did us. I'm glad we had just enough to cover the cost. (We tip our wait staff good where ever we go). *But at 15-18%. And without notice. They have signs up about the use of the debit/ credit cards. But no where did I see the change of charges to your bill. Come On Taquin. Note: now it makes sense why there's more people getting Take Out.... geeeez. It's sad that pretty soon. We're not gonna be able to enjoy family time at restaurants.

FYI- Before people start to talk negative. (I used to wait on tables & work in restaurants. So I know how it feels. That's why we tip the servers & bus Boys. They have bills and family to support also)

Food was very delicious. Bathroom was very neat and clean. Restaurant very neat. We had no issues in the neighborhood either. No one greeted me when I entered just kinda stared for a second after I said hello, and the. I asked to use the restroom since my husband had already come in and ordered. It took quite a while for our food to be ready but it was worth the wait.
