TL;DR - Impressive in every way. Delicious food, truly outstanding service, reasonable prices, large portions, nice atmosphere. Left full and happy!
I live out of state and visit my parents twice a year. This place is basically around the corner from their house, so we see the signs advertising "Best Thai Food in Boise" all the time but have never gone in because . Maybe a bias against the idea that a good restaurant could possibly exist in a strip mall once home to a Showtime Video turned Blockbuster turned furniture consignment store? Anyway. When they asked if I wanted to drive 9 miles across town to the greasy spoon Chinese restaurant they always go to, I suggested we try this place instead. We all prefer Thai to Chinese, yet rarely opt for it...riddle me that. So we gave it a shot. WHAT A GEM!
We walked in right after they opened for dinner at 5:00 on a Wednesday. The place filled up pretty quickly. Small place but well organized and a beautiful atmosphere, with a fresh rose on every table. The hospitality was THE BEST I've experienced in quite a while. I was so impressed with the team effort by the front-of-house staff. Two servers, one who also tended the bar, and an expo. All three of them visited our table at least 3 times each, and our primary server was around a lot more. They were so friendly and polite--I actually felt like a welcome guest in the restaurant.
Our food came incredibly quickly. The fresh spring rolls were on the table within seconds. I added a cup of Tom Kha soup to my entree--it was huge! It would be considered a bowl anywhere else, and was brimming with fresh onions and mushrooms. I enjoyed a Yuzu Saketini (or maybe 2) that was bright, fresh, and delicious. All of our entrees were fantastic. The prices were very reasonable, and the portions were generous.
Worth a visit the next time you're craving Thai food! We also saw several to-go orders get prepped...
Read moreWe came on a busy Saturday night at dinner hour. When you arrive there is a forest of door dash people waiting on orders which leaves very little room to stand waiting for a table. 10 to 15 min wait without a reservation wasn't bad for a small restaurant. The menu is basic but it has most of the standards plus a few interesting options. Food is very good, but skip the fried tofu appetizer, that needs to leave the menu. This place has a very upscale vibe and the food is served in the same fashion which brings me to my biggest gripe about places like this. This is a Thai food restaurant that is trying to be different, but every Thai food restaurant I have gone to has an easy way to share dishes with the people at your table. As you can see by the pictures of the food, items arrive with their own mound of rice meaning that they expect you to only eat the thing you order for yourself. If you order a curry you get a big plate with nothing on it except rice and a separate bowl. This then became our second problem. On this particular night they were understaffed so the person who was helping us at the table I think was actually a hostess and not a server (or shouldn't be), so when you say things like we're going to share the dishes you get a blank stare she picks up the small appetizer plates and leaves you sitting there waiting for new plates that never arrived. After waiting several minutes to get her attention she brings out four more appetizer plates which is not how it works. So, note to the owner, You're obviously doing very well without this review, but we drove all the way from Southeast Boise because of recommendations from friends. We passed a lot of good Thai restaurants that do it old school so we probably won't come back. BTW, your larb really passed the comparison test and was very good. ...
Read moreMy wife and I recently moved to the Treasure Valley and we really like Thai food. We came here based on the Yelp reviews.
Per their signage, they are now open on Sundays from 5 to 9 pm. We arrived right at 5. Located in a plain looking strip mall, it's not until you're inside that you see that it is nice. Soothing music is playing and the wood furniture is warm and inviting. There is what looks like a full bar on the right. Next to the bar are high tables, otherwise low tables to the left. It is not a large space but there were plenty of tables. We were the first ones in. By the time we left, it had filled up considerably.
Our cheerful server took very good care of us, never letting our water glasses empty. My wife had the Pineapple Fried Rice and I had the Drunken Noodles. My dish was delicious; very flavorful and I loved the texture of the noodles. The spice range is 1 to 6. I choose 2, and it still made my nose run. My wife wished the rice was more spicy but otherwise really liked it. Portions are ample and we brought about half our meal home.
The menu is rather small but it has most everything you would want. Currys, other protein dishes, noodle dishes, salads, and desserts. One Thai entree that I like and I didn't see on the menu was Prik Khing, or a spicy green bean dish.
We will most...
