Granny's Restaurant — Restaurant in Illinois

I've been going to Granny's my whole life and I absolutely love it! It's interesting to watch the changes that have happened over the years—remember smoking and non-smoking?—and now all of the recent renovations to freshen things up (paint job, new light fixtures, rearranging of layout, etc.) The menu has a wide variety of affordable breakfast and lunch items and the food is always delicious (I love the Sampler, you get a bit of everything). The staff there makes it feel like you are actually in a family place plus they have an awesome wall covered in frequent customer's pictures (yes, my family is on that wall). Despite any changes that have happened over the years, the thing that hasn't changed is that Granny's is a great place to run into old friends, enjoy a comfortable meal, catch up on local news, and they're not getting rid of me anytime soon!

Edit: sigh... Granny's isn't what it used to be. Maybe because none of the old faces are there anymore, and ownership has changed, and therefore I don't go as often anymore, but it's just not the same. Heck, maybe, even though I didn't grow up eating unhealthy, maybe my eating habits have cleaned up even more and everything being cooked in oil just tastes kind of meh now. The service is fine but not notable. The food is fine but again nothing extraordinary. I will say the hash browns are indeed cooked well done when you ask for it, so that's good. I know all the signs on the wall have been there for a few years now, but the basic white girl farmhouse vibes is a little excessive. Waiter Erica was not as attentive to my family's breakfast. She was slacking on her job. I still tip her. But that doesn't justify, good customer service! she had a horrible customer service skills. She never came to ask if I needed something or if I needed water she never even had my silverware, soon after she brought me my order. I had mentioned to her that my order was wrong and I asked her to take my it back, and I explained to her briefly what my meal was and she brought me the same exact meal, she just threw in some corn beef on top of my eggs Benedict, and she left the ham there and to top it all off it took her forever to bring me the same plate she brought it back and it was cold, and she decided to put my potatoes on different plate, like if your bring back the same meal why the heck would u just put my potatoes on different plate, they where cold like just leave them their, don't mess with food you already served !!! bad service ERICA! 8/9 One of the worst experiences that I have had in a long time. Was seated fast as, should have been considering we were the only people there. Food arrived at a normal pace. But, once food arrived grits were cold eggs were prepared wrong. Server was no where in sight for about 10 minutes!!! Actually I had to flag down another server to find ours (we were the only people there) she removed the grits microwaved them and brought them back by then the under-cooked eggs were cold! What discussed me the most was tha stinch from the cornbeef hash the appearance looked like dog food. I didn't eat anything, I almost puked!!!! Once again looking for the server to get the check. Had to flag down another server again. It was very clear I didn't eat. She didn't ask if things were ok but, had the nerve to ask if, I wanted a box.. what a joke how about a refund.⛔STAY AWAY FROM...
