This is the second time we've tried this place. First time, we had just moved to IL and it was the only place still serving food and we were starving and tired. We ordered the fish and rice to share. Long story short, We could barely cut the fish fillet in half. Fast forward almost one year- our new friends wanted us to meet them here for food and drinks. Ok, we'll give it another shot. Sat at the outside bar- which literally had storage tubs behind it rather than a functioning bar. Ordered a beer and the waiter handed me a warm bottle that was just sitting on a shelf behind the "bar". My boyfriend ordered a mixed drink-the waiter clearly has to go inside to order it from the inside bar- he didn't get his drink until I was about done choking down my luke warm beer. Our friends had already ordered and were waiting on their food when we arrived. So we ordered food after we ordered our drinks. In the waiters defense, the worker who was supposed to be working the outside "bar" had just quit and he was having to go in and out EVERY SINGLE TIME anyone ordered anything!! (There were a decent number of people at the bar as well). We waited and waited. 6 or 7 employees played around in front of the building while our waiter basically never returned. It was almost 9 and we decided our food was not coming and we had better go somewhere else before they stop serving food. We were there for about an hour and a half and our food never came. Maybe that was a blessing in disguise- who knows.

Went to Snuggery for an early dinner and we sat outside. We truly enjoyed our dinners and the beautiful river view (Jack Daniels Burger, Avocado Chicken Sandwich, and the Fish & Chips). The fries were delicious as well, but their wine prices are a bit “pricey”. Since dinner was so good, we went back the following evening just for cocktails to sit outside around 9pm. The weather was beautiful…but OH MY GOSH. The mosquitoes were ferocious! I asked if they sprayed for them and the answer was no, thus we had to move inside. Then the kicker was leaving at 10pm in the dark to the parking lot. We waited at the crosswalk, it was clear and we proceeded across River Road. Out of NO WHERE this car FLEW THROUGH the crosswalk SUPER FAST causing 2 of us to RUN forward and one of us to run backwards. I screamed at the driver every expletive in the book, and then yelled back at the restaurant to FIX THIS PROBLEM! Now I know it is not the Snuggery’s fault for stupid @ss drivers, but they are responsible to get their patrons safely to the designated restaurant parking lot. There is a HUGE problem here. Snuggery...maybe you need a REFLECTIVE Crossing Guard with a neon reflective STOP sign like we all had in grade school…just something MORE than what you are providing right now BEFORE someone gets really hurt who can't run or move fast like we had to!

My husband and I decided to eat at the Snuggery for a mid afternoon lunch. When we arrived, we noticed the various options of dining available. They have an outdoor eating area with tables and tents as well as a spacious indoor dining area that includes a bar area. We decided to sit inside due to the weather. If you sit in the main dining area, you will have a great view of the river. We sat right by the windows which provided entertainment with all of the boats passing by. Our waitress was attentive and readily available for any questions we had about the menu. For drinks, we decided to try the frozen options. They were delicious and would be great on a hot summer day. As for food, my husband got the fish sandwich and I got the chicken wrap. The only notice about the food was the amount of fish on the sandwich. The sandwich had three tiny pieces and could have had more. Otherwise, the food was delicious and filling. We will definitely be back!

I have eaten here twice before. Thou is was one of the salads. Today my girlfriend and I meet for lunch. It was pretty dead there. I ordered chicken n ribs . I ordered sweetpotato frues n I wanted mashed potatos w gravy too. Waitress had to mention extra charge for extra side. Told her I dont care. Food came , the chicken looked breaded and fried. And dark meat which i dont eat. She stated it was Broasted , well Broasted is fried (pressure fried to be exacted) so it cooks faster. Well I told her I dont eat dark meat n it looked over cooked. So once again i was told its 5$ more for white meat. I dont care..geez. so a while later i get a plate of Fried yuk chicken breast. Seriously this chicken come frozen pre breaded..its junk. Then tossed in a pressure fryer. Discussing...the sweet potatoe fries were good the ribs small portion but good. I under some people in a low end establishment like this care about being charge a few extra bucks here n there. And I am not thrill for paying $63. For crappy chicken that will go to the dogs. I grew up on this road. Went to.the old Snug harbor as a child. Then ate there when it was a supper club. Not it a dang sport bars. Oh dont want to firget to mention the crying 2 yr old at the BAR in a highchair. Parents that shouldnt be at a BAR w a baby. I seem to remember its against the law for any minor to be seared at the BAR. Of course the poor chikd was bored and needed a nap. But the parents seems more concerned will sittimg at the dang BAR w friends then parenting. Both my friend and I agreed.not a place worth going to ago. Hence was it was dead on a Saturday afternoon. For $63 we could have gonna to a much nicer higher end restaurant . Where there is no waitress interrupting with oh thats a...

One of the worst experiences ever. Starting with our seating and drink orders. Hostess/wait staff asked for our drink orders but because nothing is listed on the menu and it was clear we were looking for something, just stood there. When finally asked, she told us: Oh you mean Pop? Then rattled everything off. This i might add wasn't until her second trip to our table. I ordered their famous Homemade mom's home style recipe Pot Roast. When it arrived it was saturated in crispy onions (not in menu description, otherwise would of asked for None). The carrots were crunchy, the pot roast tough and chewy. Server did not come back over to check on us for a solid 15-20 minutes. Place was not Busy. When asked if I wanted a box I said, No I won't eat that. So ignored me and proceeded to ask my dinner mate if she wanted a box. Normally I don't complain, but the blatant disregard for my experience irked me. I then reiterated that it was nearly inedible. I was then told, oh okay, well I can see if my manager will comp your entree. No apologies, no manager visit to our table, no offer of a new meal, no anything as far as making sure I was as satisfied as possible as a customer that they want to return. Most of the time the "Hostess" and serve staff were off giggling and on their phones. All of this really makes me sad. I'm new to this area and had the opportunity a few months ago to try Moretti's and it was Fabulous. I also ordered from the Fox Lake location. The food was to die for!! Authentic Italian!! After my latest visit I don't think I will be back. In these days we are living in, one would think you would want to step up your game a little to keep customers coming back. I guess Moretti's doesn't need...

Snuggery McHenry-Sunday, 9/16/2012: Good Food; AWFUL service, Jennifer; AWFUL Manager, Mark. We went to the Snuggery for lunch on Sunday which we do about twice a month. This time we had seven people which we have done in the past. Our waitress, Jennifer, a very sweet girl with no business waiting on tables, never asked us if we wanted another drink, Brian had to go and find her to request a second drink.

We were there for 2 ½ hours just trying to have lunch. Finally after waiting an hour we still did not have any food. Roger talked to the manager, Mark, to see why we still didn’t have our food and why we couldn’t find our waitress to get another drink. Mark got Jennifer to come over and get us drink, and then he went to check on the food. Mark came out from the kitchen and said your food ticket went in the kitchen 43 minutes ago and there are still 3 tickets in front of it and it should be out shortly. What manager would think 43 minutes is acceptable. 15 minutes later six of our seven meals came out. We were almost done eating and Jennifer finally asked if the food was okay. We said we are still missing a meal. Scott was missing his meal, said to Mark, the manager, this is bull…. (This was not right) I still don’t have food and the Mark, the manager, said don’t swear at me. Jennifer brought out a meal, the wrong meal, but he ate it.

Mark did not apologize or comp anything and Jennifer did not apologize for the bad service. This is not the way to treat customers. An apology would have gone a long way.

We really love the food and usually we love the service. This was an awful experience and I am so sad we were treated so badly. Now, we will have to find another restaurant for our...
