✨Caruso's in Angola has been a family staple for years! The memories this place holds are so special and dear to so many people in Northeast Indiana ❤️ They have an extensive gluten-free menu, and they specifically asked me if I had an intolerance/allergy, or if I was ordering for preference. My food came out completely separate from the rest of the table, and they made me feel so safe and taken care of. And it was deeee-licious! I had the gluten-free cheese tortellini and salad.. but they have homemade breaded chicken on the menu that I have to go back for asap 😍 Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area! #glutenfree #celiac #indiana #recommendations

I recently tried Caruso's for the first time to meet up with some family for dinner. I have Celiac and I really appreciated that they not only have a gluten-free menu but also they take the food prep seriously to minimize cross-contamination and make sure it's actually gluten free. Our server, Brady, was great. He was knowledgeable about the gluten free options and made me feel comfortable that they take it seriously. He was very attentive and made sure we were always good and had everything we needed. I drink a lot of water and a pet peeve of mine at restaurants is the slow pace of refills, but I felt like Brady made sure my glass was always at least half full. The food itself was pretty good. I ordered the gluten-free chicken parm plus they were nice enough to bake fries in the oven to avoid cross contamination in the fryer. The food was good, though I do wish that the portion size for the chicken would have been a little bigger for the price, but I can't really complain about eating gluten free chicken parm! I also really like their red wine list, which was a nice bonus. Overall, I recommend Caruso's, especially if you are on a gluten free diet. I definitely will return.

My waitress was great and everyone was very friendly. That was the best part of my experience.

Outside of that, wow. The price for the food my partner and I had was just inexcusably and unreasonably insane. $75 for approximately eight shrimp with a side of broccoli, chicken fettuccine alfredo with a side of broccoli, an order of bread sticks, and a soda..? Why?

The bread sticks were good. Drenched in oil an parmesan cheese, if that's your thing. Maybe 7.5 out of 10. Nothing out of this world though, and I've definitely had better, or at least comparable bread sticks elsewhere, and for a lower price.

The shrimp scampi my partner received was passable. Not terrible, not titillating. The portion size though, was laughable. Maybe a 7 out of 10, very forgettable and absurdly overpriced.

The broccoli sides were pretty good, except the fact that they were served with long, tough stalks. The flowerets were delightfully tender and enjoyable, and I'd give them an 8.5 out of 10, but with the tough, unenjoyable stalks, I'd have to give the side as a whole a 6.5 out of 10. After removing the large stalks, there wasn't much left to actually enjoy. Another laughable portion size.

The chicken fettuccine alfredo I received was average. Instead of grilled chicken, my waitress recommended blackened, which I agreed to. The chicken itself was enjoyable, and by itself I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. The actual alfredo sauce and noodles were below average. Very sticky, clumpy, not creamy at all. The dish as a whole wasn't terrible, and the portion size was along the lines of what I was hoping for, but all in all, I expected much, much better, and I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.

In summary, if my bill was $25 cheaper, my review would be much less critical. Premium pricing for a below average experience.

This place made me think of the type of restaurants you'd see on Kitchen Nightmares; an old establishment that used to have the best food and atmosphere around, but has significantly degraded in quality over the decades. Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely I'll...

Oml where to start...go to walk in and there's a line...no problem but when we walked in we had to wait 3-4 minutes just for someone to walk up to the desk and talk to us. When we were seated we were given a booster for an 11 month old. After a while our waitress comes up and asks us what to drink but there's not even a drink menu. For an Italian menu they had more salads than anything else. Pasta menu; very small. Menu said they charge an extra $2 for a split plate and for $18+ a plate it would be assumed that it would be decent portions...at least enough to not leave hungry. The stuffed shells were like $18 and they served 3 stuffed shells. Not even jumbo shells. Normal size. Another of our guest took one bite of fettuccine and refused to eat more. That meal was $18 as well. To add 1 piece of chicken is $5. Chicken came out cold on the outside and ALL the pasta was super dry like it had sat under the heat lamp for quite some time. We had ordered a side of bread sticks and bread also came with all of our meals. You'd expect the side of bread sticks ordered would come out first and the others with our meal. No, not the case. They brought them all out at once. By the time our poorly done food had arrived, our bread sticks were cold and hard. Taste and texture of the sticks were lacking. Compare them to that of a bread stick you'd get at a concession stand. When we told management about the issues and they did come back with a price; it was still $50 and we all left hungry and disappointed..For being family owned and in business for almost 50 years we expected much much better. Not worth the price at all...go have fazolis or, even...

i gave this a one star review because of MANY things. first of all, it took a whole hour just to get a simple HALF of a sandwich, a small personal pizza, and a side bowl of spaghetti. i went with my mom and dad, my mom got the sandwich, i got the spaghetti, and my dad got the pizza. the waitress was amazing and very helpful, but when she brought out the breadsticks they were ROCK hard. we looked around at other tables and at their breadsticks and they were squishy as heck. when our food finally came out. my spaghetti was cold as ice and the noodles were very undercooked. my meat sauce came with seasoning when i specifically asked for NO seasoning. my moms half sandwich was PATHETIC! there was half a sliver of mushroom, a shriveled up spinach leaf, there was absolutely no marinara on the sandwich and there was cheese, wedged between the plate and the sandwich. also, the entire sandwich was burnt to a crisp. the pizza came with THE CHECK and the whole thing was practically cheese and underbaked. second of all, it was like 50° and people kept leaving the restaurant to go get sweatshirts. my mom had to eat 5 french fries for dinner. the excuses for the long waits were that the take out was packed so the people dining inside had to suffer the consequences. i know people write fake bad reviews to get free stuff, but this is 100% true. DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT come here. it is a gigantic waste of your time and you will not have a...
