First time experience with Copper Creek Cafe... and it was incredible.
The atmosphere was very casual yet its obvious they pay attention to details.
Our waitress Justine, was friendly and her service to our table was top notch. I informed her this was my first time at Copper Creek Cafe, and asked her what was good and what were they known for? Now I should add, one thing I appreciated her doing was speaking loud enough and clearly enough for me to understand her.
I got the Copper Creek Skillet which consists of Ham, sausage, or bacon, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese smothered with homemade sausage gravy. Now I am a real picky gravy connoisseur.
(NOTE: My Mom, had a clean greasy spoon restaurant for years and her specialty that people would drive miles for was her biscuits and gravy. )
So I informed Justine of my discriminating palate for gravy and she brought me a nice size sample of the gravy... enough to taste and satisfy my appreciation of the taste and flavor of real handmade gravy (versus the stuff in a bag bought at the local food service store.)
The meal was very tasty. Veggies were still crunchy, versus soggy. There was a nice amount of sausage in the gravy so that allowed me to get bacon in the skillet. In fact, it surprised me how generous they were with the gravy. As you can see from the pic, it covered the omelette and now with a thin skimming either. The gravy was another mean on top of the omlette. It was enough for two people really.
You truly do get your money's worth at Coeet zCreek Cafe
I finished off the meal with a nice size pancake. Overall, very happy with my first experience at Copper Creek Cafe.
I met the owner at checkout and shared with her my great experience.. i inquired how well they were holding up in the pandemic. She said things had been slow,, but now people were venturing back in and they expected to stay the course.
I know that I will be back again but this time...
Read moreWent on a Sunday late morning around 11 am and it was packed. I was fully expecting a half-hour wait but was surprised when we were called to our table after just 15 minutes. The service was quite prompt and sufficient, yet not over-bearing or awkward.
The food was delicious and incredibly generous for the price. I'm not too picky about the taste of food, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I can say the food was quite warm, the coffee was strong (not the watered down type you often get), and the omelette wasn't soaked in oil (again, a common practice with breakfast joints).
The waitress was quite attentive and friendly! In fact, there was a bit of mess-up in our order (an item was forgotten from our bill) but the waitress just let it pass since she saw we were getting ready to leave.
Overall, great experience and highly recommend it. A couple things to note (not really negatives), but it's a popular place so if you are going at brunch time on the weekend, expect a small wait. There isn't a large waiting area, so you may feel a little cramped. In addition, the parking lot is a slightly cramped and honestly isn't enough during the busiest times, so you may have to park in the lot right next to it. Not a big deal personally, but keep this in mind if you have people in your group where walking is difficult. Finally, you pay at the register and not with your waiter/waitress. It may be obvious but...
Read moreI live in South Bend. I was very excited to learn that a few relatives from Illinois were coming for a visit. I asked a close friend for restaurant recommendations. If the three given, I decided on Copper Creek Cafe in Granger, IN. My husband and I had never been here. I was not “wowed” or impressed with the breakfast. It was “just okay”. I was not happy with the service because it took 45 minutes after ordering to get our meals. We were a party of five. A few family members ordered pancakes. By the time they got syrup their cakes were cold. The mediocre service is not totally the servers fault because it appeared that she was working our side of the room alone. It was a Sunday. Her attitude when I asked for syrup 3 times was “I am only one person doing this job” however she did not fail to ask the table of guests behind us who were seated after our party if they needed anything else. Of which I raised my hand and said “syrup at our table please”. The server said we could not get sausage patties instead of links. They’re both pork sausage so why the hassle if a customer has a preference? I would like the manager to contact me. Otherwise I plan not to frequent this place no time soon. Someone should have assisted the waitress. Customers are first or why be in...
