El Nopal Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Indiana

I came in August for my birthday and it was really good, so I came back with my husband tonight, after telling him how good it was. It was soooo bad! 😥 I asked for cheese on the outside of my enchilada and chili relleno. They literally smothered it in white nacho sauce!!! My husband's beef enchiladas had maybe 1 tsp of enchilada sauce smeared on a soggy corn tortilla, and he said the meat had absolutely no taste at all. We asked for more enchilada sauce for it, and when they brought the bill, we noticed they charged us extra for it! They also brought us to go chips n salsa, and I told the waiter I didn't order those, to which he replied it was free to go, because we were taking a to go box. We noticed they charged us for them also!!! Plus $4 for the extra nacho sauce! 😂 When I brought it up to the guy at the front counter, he tried to argue with me that whatever goes to the kitchen you get billed for! We just wanted what we ordered to actually have enchilada sauce on it! I just told him finally that I'll go ahead and pay for it but we won't be back. He replied with an "ok, GOD bless you." 😂 So I gave him a GOD bless you back...but I'm not sure what the purpose of that was! They NEED GOD to bless them because this place was so bad!! My husband left the lousy enchilada and we also left the chips and salsa that we never ordered!!! We won't make that mistake again! DON'T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!! It may be THE WORST Mexican food around! My husband said Taco Bell was better than this place! The waiters tip paid for the extra stuff they billed us for! I don't usually not tip, but this time, I did. .it...

I ordered about 100 dollars worth of food for a business. Ordering the food was a headache enough and had to go in person . The person taking my order tonight kept hanging up so once I got there he was also rude . As I told him what I wanted he kept pointing at the menu and expecting me to know the numbers.

Then when I got my food I was missing multiple tacos. I even asked before I left if this was everything and they said yes. When I got back I was missing 2 beef tacos, 2 steak, and one chicken. We had to give up our tacos that came with our meals to other workers so they had at least some food. When we called back they of course, kept hanging up after we started talking to them.

Terrible service and we will be contacting corporate. We order from here frequently for a business - usually for 6-8 people at a time. But once a week, reliable business. At least we used to. Let’s see how...

My wife and I have a few places we hit on Fridays or weekends around the region, but when we want good, solid food with friendly, professional people on a weeknight when neither of us wants to cook, this El Nopal is our go to. We always go to the bar area, and Jerry or his folks always take excellent care of us. The atmosphere is great, the staff is professional, the food is always served fast and hot, and the service is second to none. I would recommend this location to anyone in the area as a great lunch or dinner destination. PS. The Apollo Hawiana is a new menus item and it’s excellent. Chicken, onions, green peppers, pineapple and queso on a plate with rice and beans. Good, solid, stick to your ribs food!
