I liked this place very much but I considered giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because there are some areas in the experience that could be improved. Overall, the food was great and my beers were great and that's what counts.
As a place that is more restaurant than bar it's really loud inside. The bar, where we waited for our table, feels unwelcoming for some reason. The shear number of beers is so great that the staff can scarcely give an informed opinion, but they do offer samples generously. I'm not sure if there's a remedy for these things except for the loud interior which could be addressed with acoustic treatment in the ceiling. Unfortunately, it's often ignored and most places are just loud as a "feature".
The real reason I considered a 4 star review is because while the food was great, the presentation was underwhelming. Everyone at my table loved their meal. The serving temperature was perfect. All of the key features of a meal were met except how the plates looked. The guacamole looked a bit oxidized and the warm color of the plates flattened out the appearance of the fried items which would normally look appetizing. With my eyes closed it was excellent.
My recommendations are white plates or something cooler in color and chilling out the acoustic reflections. Investing in some acoustic treatment for the ceiling would go a long way. Unless you have a lot of difficulty in loud places there is much to enjoy. I'm sure dinner and drinks outside in warmer weather...
Read moreWent on a not so busy Thursday night with 6 friends to celebrate a birthday. First time for most of us so we took our time perusing the menu. Placed our order and waited for our meals. Meals came out 3 at a time. So everyone received their meal except me. I kindly asked our waitress where was my burger when she finally walked by (not to check on how everyone's food was), she said I'll check. She came back to tell me that my order was missed because they were slammed but she just put it in again. We all looked around at the nearly empty restaurant and was like this is slammed. So while my friends are eating I continued to wait. Another friend complained about her order being wrong. I was politely offered my meal for free so I thought it was an honest mistake. When my plate arrived the order was wrong...smh. Over the following weekend I took my son there since he hadn't been there. We arrived shortly after they opened at 11am and were immediately seated. We pursued the menu since it was his first time there. We had to flag down another waitress because our waiter was MIA. Sorry for the long rant but service here definitely needs to improve before I return. So if you want beer only, I suggest setting at the bar and enjoy. If you want a meal here take...
Read moreWhere to start? This spot looks nice. 6:15pm on a Friday night. Ask the host what the wait is. Says I don't know. Let's us know there is only outside seating. Decent night and no wait so we decided to take a chance. Flys everywhere little hot but not bad. Service was decent but attentiveness fell off throughout service until time to pay of course. Let's talk about the food though. Ordered two apps.. Pretzel and beer cheese and carnita cheese dip with chips. Pretzels were the cheap super pretzel kind. Dunked in hot fryer oil for just a moment. Outside scolding hot (could use more salt but I'm a salt fiend) inside Luke warm at best. Beer cheese tasted like fake cheese mixed with spices. Carnita meat was pretty good but the cheese dip tasted like it came out of a can. 3 burgers and 2 kids chicken tenders ordered. Chicken tenders were huge and tasted good but very greasy. Tater tots good, sidewinder fries good but no seasoning, green beans were bad, brussel sprouts bland and unseasonably. Diablo burger was ok. So greasy bottom bun was wet. Jalapeños sliced raw not even deseaded. Guacomole was pretty good. Diable sauce was delicious. Other 2 burgers were pretty good. For the price we paid I can say highly disappointed and will most likely not return....
