Ok 08/13/2024 is my last time walking thru those doors. I have had three bad experiences all concurrent of each other in my dealings with Shrimp Hut on 38th St near Emerson. My first bad experience was when I made a phone order. I requested the perch & shrimp dinner and I only received two tiny pieces of fish (maybe perch) and three super salty shrimp, not edible at all. My second bad experience was ordering again via phone and I was told my order would be ready at a set time and when I arrived. I had to wait an additional 30 minutes for my food. And it was super salty even though I requested minimal seasoning because I know they drown the food in salt seasoning. My third and final bad experience was tonight (8/13/2024) when I made a online order for perch & shrimp. I made the order at 7:41pm and the site said my food would be ready at 8:00-810pm. I went to the grocery store to pick up some items while I waited for my food to be prepared. When I arrived at Shrimp Hut the (rude) lady told me she made several attempts to call me to let me know that Shrimp Hut did not have any "shrimp". My phone only showed one call and no one left a voice mail message so I had no idea it was shrimp hut calling. I declined the order when I was told the false story that "several" calls were made to my phone by the rude lady behind the counter and I should order something else as a alternate. I remember Shrimp Hut when it was on 38th Street across from what is now the public library. It was great, the food was great and the service was superb. The original and staff took "pride" in what they provided the community. This new store and owner should not disgrace an Indy legacy by continuing to use the Shrimp Hut name to serve this horrendously poor quality of food and service. Read moreOrdered online with menuefy, cause the shrimphut site is down. I had a time pick up for 5:45 and a confirmation nunber. I ordered 3pc perch value dinner with fries, coleslaw and hushpuppies. I also ordered a clam strip dinner with same sides. Got there at 5:50, waited in line till 6:05 gave my name and order to be told we don't sell clams anymore and we don't have any order for you. The cashier went to the back, came back and repeated she doesn't have an order for me. I showed her the confirmation nunber and she checked again. Found it, but we still don't have clams. But I was charged for them and a convenience fee plus tip! So she says, would you like to choose something else? Theirs nothing I can do about that. Okay, shrimp dinner same sides. Okay. She came back with both orders and said thank you. So it seemed fast that she made my shrimp order so I checked both dinners. No hushpuppies, no coleslaw, double fries. What! I went back to the window waited, its now 6:30, and asked about the missing items. She says we are out of coleslaw and the last shift didn't clean the grease for the hushpuppies, and she wasn't going to sell burnt food, so no hushpuppies. I said I see coleslaw in the case right here. She said that's large. Okay well can't you give me the large in place of the 2 small that I didn't get? She said okay and packed it for me. Then said it will be 10 minutes for hushpuppies you want them? I said no thanks, I'm good, and left. The food is good, the price is good but things need to improve before I go back. Another lady asked for Jumbo shrimp and was told we don't have any. The small coleslaw is the size of a condiment container at most places. The large is small. I hate to leave...
Read moreNormally I have okay service but on today I was totally disrespected. My order was a whole catfish dinner, with a order of mushrooms on the side. I asked the young lady twice if they had whole catfish and she said yes. The reason I asked because once before they said yes but didn't have whole catfish. I waited 20 mins or more for my order, this man came in to pick up an order and it was whole catfish meal, the young lady says we don't have any whole catfish today, well I waited for 10 more minutes then i asked the young lady how long would it be before my order would ready. She looked around like she was looking for my order and I said I had a whole catfish dinner, then she said we don't have whole catfish today. I asked her how long was I was to set there and not know that, she said didn't know we didn't have whole catfish. I told her that wasn't good customer service and that it was very disrespectful to allow me to set there and not say anything to me. She got upset and told the cook that i was fussing at her and that she didn't have to put up with it so she said she was going to leave. The man said with an attitude that he was very busy and didn't have time to straighten this out and I could get a refund or reorder. I said reorder, but they had messed up another lady's order and he then said just give them their money back , but in the same sentence he said we had to write our phone number and name and come back tomorrow to get my refund. All they needed to do put it on my card but he didn't. So now i have to go back up there tomorrow.
