I was staying at a nearby campground and drove by the Wandering Tortoise a couple of times and decided to stop in for lunch. Spoiler Alert: WOW! I got there a little after 1 PM and they close at 2. Maybe ten tables and I was the only customer...more on that later. I saw the daily soup was minestrone so I ordered that and the Rachel sandwich (turkey version of a Reuben). Attentive service and quick delivery. Tasted the minestrone...hmmm, good, very good! Took a bite of the sandwich and looked around in bewilderment. It was in a word, superb. And the prices were reasonable...more on that later. Why wasn't the place packed?! Look at the reviews - I'm not the only one that was blown away by this cozy little place. The check comes...that can't be right, bill is too low. How often have you had that feeling at a restaurant?? I asked if there had been a mistake since I had the cup of soup and the special board listed that at ~$5, but it wasn't added to the check. Nope, the soup was included in the price of the sandwich! 🤯 You know that old saying - good fast cheap - I can give you any 2 of the 3, I can't give you all 3, right? The Wandering Tortoise never got that memo - they hit it out of the park and gave me all 3. Thank you!

I went to this cafe on Saturday July 26th, 2025 and the food was absolutely delicious, the server was very friendly, the man who also serves is very friendly and kind! The chocolate covered strawberries are among the best I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend and I will be back. PS I live an hour away and the Food and chocolate covered strawberries are worth the price and the gas!

The sandwhiches were great with house made bread and super high-quality ingredients. The staff was super friendly, and the service was spot on. This is a great spot to grab a bite while making a trip to Yankeetown to visit the historic Elvis bridge, go fishing, or just enjoy this quaint town. Don't miss! Under new owners - 4/25.

This place is everything you are looking for on a Florida get away. Breakfast is amazing. They have something for everyone. My girls had waffles, pancakes and French toast. I had a classic breakfast of two eggs with side and toast. Let me tell you. They know their way around eggs and the bacon is deliciously addictive not that weird stuff with the after taste. All of the bread and I mean anything requiring dough is handmade. I was in awe of it. The toasts, English muffins and cinnamon rolls are made perfectly. The woman who makes it all must be magic! Do not miss out if you are in the neighborhood. Better...

Consistently the best in town! Homemade and delicious French toast, waffles, omelets, the list goes on! Even daily specials made fresh and changing all the time. The servings are generous so come hungry! And the coffee is self serve and fresh with a million options to make it your own. Our last visit had a line waiting out the door! But service was prompt and super friendly, feels like being in your friends home 🏠 Definitely a place to visit! Don’t forget to grab some bakery treats to go from the rack too! Holy cow- you might need to wear...
