Came by here early in the morning right at opening to get some work done before the day started. I decided I would treat myself to a nice coffee and breakfast while I was here.
Parking: This Java House is in a small shopping center, so there was ample parking.
Ambiance: I liked the ambiance of the place. Lots of wood, so it felt natural. There was ample lighting and plenty of seating with outlets for me to get some work done. There are signs that say 1 hour seating, but it was not busy that early and they did not enforce it at the time. I am not sure if they would enforce it if it ever got that busy.
Food and drink: For coffee, I got the Mexican Chocolate Cold Brew with Sweet Cream. For food, I got the Spicy Southwest with chorizo and substituted the English muffin for croissant, which they were more than happy to do. Both came out in a timely manner. The Mexican Chocolate Cold Brew was delicious and refreshing, but it does have a spiced kick to it for those who are not into that. The Spicy Southwest was not too spicy though, so feel free to order it if it piques your interest. It was still warm, had a delicious sauce to it, and I had to consciously tell myself to eat it slowly or I would have scarfed it down otherwise.
Service: Incredibly friendly staff. Made small talk with one of the baristas about the gaggle of geese that were right outside the window.
A hundred percent would come back! I am craving the Spicy Southwest as...
Read moreWe always go to all the Java Houses and try them all depending on what side of town we are to support local business, but I was extremely extremely and extremely impressed with the excellent young man named William at the front of store greeting me with a very happy and genuine smile and taking my order. After asking him his name, I also found out that he is still at West High School, and I cannot tell you how amazed I was with his customer service skills. As a business owner, he was the absolute definition of who you want to be part of your team! I know he is still young, but at this time he delivered me something that I hardly and sadly don’t see much these days. Not only he needs a raise, he deserves to train others and even manage!!!! He has a very bright future and I encouraged him to study hard and succeed at what he loves to achieve! Oh yah, the white rasp mochas were also absolutely great! That was a drink I introduced to my wife 10 yrs ago on one of our first dates, and your stores are the only place that we can get this heavenly made...
Read moreJava house-Heirloom used to be my favorite coffee house in Iowa City. I've been a loyal customer for 7 years-- but I will not come here again. I got disappointed with services they provide as time goes by. I could tell they reduce the portion of the size and asking for more money. They are not used to like this in the past. The image I attached: cup of soup was $4.44. I mean I would be okay if the portion size was big enough to pay that amount of money. It used to be black color cup with bigger portion. Every friends of mine saying that they're recently more focused on making money rather than providing good services. In addition, I used to use an java house application on my phone and sometimes they gave a promotion, but they no longer use application and changed the transaction system ridiculously. I'm not a big fan of java house anymore. I would rather go to Starbucks these days. I was a big fan of java such a long time and it was a big disappointment! Shame on you! Please go back to basic...
