I was so excited to revisit The Griffin since we had not been there since their soft opening. This past Sunday, we joined friends that had not dined at The Griffin yet. When we arrived, the ambiance, the water view and the friendly faces welcomed us. We started with a Griffin Cosmo that was so delicious we wanted a pitcher of them. If you like Cosmos, do NOT pass up the opportunity to have Tommy make you one of these! My husband had the Mushroom Bisque soup and said he would definitely be ordering it again. For dinner, he chose Pecan Chicken with the Berry Glaze and Fingerling Potatoes and I had a Wedge Salad and the Ahi Tuna appetizer. I did not get pictures of all our food or those delicious drinks because we dove right in before I thought about it. The Chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy on the inside and golden pecan crust on the outside. The berry glaze was the perfect complement and because the servings were so generous, when we asked for take out containers to take half of our food home, we asked for extra berry sauce. My Ahi Tuna was brought out lightly seared and rare inside, just the way I like and, the Wedge salad was so fresh and tasty. It was all beautifully plated and served to us by our amazing waitress Wendy. Wendy was a fantastic addition to our experience at The Griffin. The Griffin in Fair Haven was most definitely the best restaurant I have been to in a very long time! Everything we ordered exceeded expectations. I expected it to be good but did not realize how good till the very first bite, delighting my taste buds till the very last!!! Our waitress Jeanette, was outstanding. Her professionalism added to our top tier experience. We were pleasantly greeted and served our first drinks promptly and her timing between courses was spot on. Of course, the chefs in the kitchen deserve recognition as well. Im having a really hard time picking what I enjoyed the most. Our calamari was phenomenal. My mushroom soup was mind blowing. Lobster melted in my mouth and our filets were cooked to perfect medium rare like we requested. Over all, I dont think there is a fine dining restaurant that comes close in our general area. The food was ok and here is my reasoning for the review. I had a Filet Mignon, it is supposed to be lean, but I had a lot of fat on it. The Au Jus was very salty, the fingerling potatoes were very salty, the bread and butter was very salty, the asparagus was very salty. Just too much salt. My husband’s steak was very fatty. I feel for the price the food is not that good. I also believe that it should not be ala cart. Yes, a salad was included but it was not that good, just an average salad. Maybe also offer more vegetables than only spinach and asparagus. The service itself was good, the server never refilled my water, my husband ended up giving me his.
