El patron Irondale — Restaurant in Irondale

Finally, Irondale has the spot we’ve been waiting for! We now have our own go-to restaurant — where the food is amazing and the vibe makes you want to bring friends, family, or even host a special occasion.

I stopped by El Patrón last Friday for a business lunch, and it checked every box. Our hostess/waitress was charming and attentive from start to finish. The design is beautiful — tons of natural light and great taste in the décor.

I ordered the Cuban sandwich and couldn’t even finish it — it was massive (took half home!). Already, several friends are lining up to meet me there.

First impressions. The building and build out itself is beautiful…. But the service does not match. We stood at the front door for 15 minutes as worker after worker passed by. No one was taking names or reservations and the manager didn’t seem to care as he stood there. We get to the table and service starts quick, but then our waiter got the order wrong and it was downhill from there. My partner got his food the first go around but it was 15 more minutes before I got mine. We watched an older couple who had to sit down while waiting get skipped over multiple times to people just walking in and sitting...

I enjoyed the salsa, queso, chips and veggie burrito (packed with flavor!). I was not a super big fan of the margarita but will be back for the food. Service was great!

One star off for Atmosphere because the lighting was too bright and the chairs were too close to one another. We sat in the middle tables in the larger side of the dining room.

Servers and guests were having a hard time getting around and my husband could not scoot any closer to the table. I think he was slightly uncomfortable the entire dining experience because of this. Congrats on the...
