Gorgeous shop, great prices. Kids can go in and buy candy with change. I didn't expect, as a local, to love it since I thought it would be priced out of my budget. There is a similar place in Brainerd that's look only for us because of pricing, but they have done such a wonderful job of being a place that isn't just catering to tourists. This makes me so happy since there are a lot of places in town that are new and only out-of-town people would find things with which they can identify. That isn't our candy store. They have popcorn, ice cream, a gazillion different kinds of bottled soda. Nostalgia hit me hard for the old D&D and B&B in Ironton where we used to ride our bikes to buy penny candy for the neighborhood after some one stole some change from their Dad's dresser under pressure from the rest of us. They have toys for various price points. I didn't have time to check out the top floor where the friendly proprietor said there are games, but I will definitely be checking it out soon. I have been gushing about since we left. This is exactly what we need. I wish more places would be as conscious of their clientele. It is a whole excursion for your kids, which is just how it should be!!!...
Read moreWhat a great stop! I took my 3 young kids here one cold morning, ordered a graham cracker latte (one of the best lattes Iâve ever had!), and perused the â3 stories of funâ.
The main floor is a candy shop with an impressive offering at reasonable prices. It also houses the kitchen / coffee bar which offers some baked goods, a great variety of hot beverages and ice cream.
Upstairs is a small toy store with a great selection of both books and toys. They also have a âloungeâ which is basically just seating for enjoying your treats from the main floor and the basement has the most extensive collection of glass bottle soda pops I could have possibly imagined. Itâs truly a sight to behold. There are also games and other toys in the basement as well.
The service was welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed our morning at High Wheel. Itâs a fun, unique little shop and I recommend you stop in if youâre...
Read moreHigh Wheel Confectionery and Coffee House is a standout spot in Ironton! Their cappuccinos and lattes are consistently well-made and enjoyableâsmooth, balanced, and a perfect complement to a treat. The shop features an amazing assortment of candy and novelty pop that makes every visit a fun experience. Their chocolates and ice cream are also excellent.
Upstairs, youâll find a fun and thoughtfully curated toy store that adds even more charm to the place. One of the most impressive things about High Wheel is the transformation Jill accomplishedâturning a run-down building into a beautifully restored and welcoming destination. Before opening, she gave my family and me a tour, and we were truly impressed by her vision and attention to detail. Itâs clear sheâs created something meaningful for...
