Zov's — Restaurant in Irvine

All I can say is that I was completely disappointed with my experience here tonight. I drove a long way to try this place that was recommended and everything that could have possibly gone wrong had happened. I was excited initially looking at all of the food photos on here, but at the end of the day, photos are just photos.

Our party was relatively large, but it didn't look too busy this evening. The first waitress had gotten everyone their waters except for mine. Mind you, the second half of our party did not arrive yet, and she still managed to get them all water before even getting me one glass. I didn't get my water until we started ordering our main entrees (and that was 15 minutes in). Normally something like this wouldn't have bothered me, but the events thereafter kept leading to further disappointment.

I had ordered the steak frites, medium rare, and I was excited to try it as my colleagues next to me had also ordered the same thing. When I received my dish, I cut through it, and it was completely well done to the point where it was burnt, bitter, and I could barely chew it. I thought maybe that it was just the first piece, but as I continued to cut through it, I realized how overly well done it was. My colleagues' dishes were all medium rare - done correctly. I couldn't even flag down the initial waitress to inform her of this as she disappeared entirely.

My colleague had spoken to the manager about this situation and by the time she had gotten a hold of him, everyone else had completed eating. All I ate were fries for dinner. A $40 dinner done completely wrong. It was nice that he offered to remove this off the bill, but the point is that I didn't even get to eat a proper meal. I didn't get the chance to have a new one made or even just get to pick a different dish.

So I basically went home hungry and disappointed (which now I have to cook my own little meal). Service was overall a disappointment too. Thank you for giving me the opportunity for this experience tonight, but I won't be coming back here in the...

Firstly, this is basically an Italian restaurant. Don’t listen to the “Mediterranean or Greek” descriptions. They had one kabob dish but the rest were all bog-standard Italian. And not even exciting or interesting dishes.

I got the Cioppino special and it was absolutely average in every way. Shrimp were meh quality, the soup stock was blandly seasoned, and the fish was over cooked. Even the “garlic bread”, was basically a seasoned grocery store sliced bread. There’s no reason to go to a restaurant to get this particular dish. I would imagine the rest of their stuff is like this too.

Overall it gives the vibe of a place that was hip in the 2000s and never grew. The vibe feels stale, the menus have plastic over them, the decor is boring. If you’re under 55 skip this place, there’s much better in the same area.

Ended up $50 for that and a Pellegrino. You could do a lot better for the money elsewhere. Like, if at least it was upscale or nice the price could be justified, but as is it’s just another generic forgettable restaurant, akin to a fancy Chiles or upscale version of...

I am not sure what to think. My husband and I decided to come here to eat for Father's day and also my son just finished his Junior Olympics Water Polo tournaments nearby. We requested for a table outside. The host said there's a 15 to 20 minutes wait. There's 2 tables emty but he said those have been reserved. So we waited, after 20 minutes he called us and sat us in at a table inside saying he have no table outside while those 2 tables were still empty. I was left speechless and not sure what to say or think....I have never been treated as such. We could have stand up and left but we didn't want to make a scene. I just didn't like to be tricked, played and lied to like that...We are not sure why they did that. We stayed because my son was hungry.
