Disappointing Experience with Ghee Karam Idly, Pesaratu Upma Dosa, and Poori with Alu Curry
I recently visited Maya-bazar Food truck with high hopes, but my experience was quite disappointing, especially with some of the classic South Indian dishes.
Ghee Karam Idly: This dish was a letdown. The idly was dry and lacked the soft, fluffy texture one expects. The ghee didn’t add much flavor, and the karam (spice) was unevenly distributed, leaving some bites too bland and others overwhelmingly spicy.
Pesaratu Upma Dosa: I had high expectations for this dish, but it fell short. The dosa was undercooked and lacked the crispiness that makes a dosa enjoyable. The pesaratu filling was bland and the upma was overly mushy, lacking any distinct flavor. Overall, the dish was poorly executed and felt like an afterthought.
Poori with Alu Curry: The poori was greasy and heavy, which made it unpleasant to eat. The alu curry was overly spicy, with the heat overpowering any other flavors. The potatoes were undercooked, which made the dish even less enjoyable.
Service was slow, and the staff didn’t seem particularly attentive or interested in addressing our concerns. The ambiance was also quite lackluster, adding to the overall disappointing experience.
I wouldn’t recommend these dishes at Maya-bazar Food truck , especially if you’re looking for authentic South...
Read moreThe food was one of the decent compared to the Indian food trucks around the place. Though Irving has multiple Indian restaurants, the particular food definitely stands out. I’ve tried the chicken fried rice, which is better than a lot of places around and it is pretty similar to what we find in the streets of india at home, so it felt very close. Also, to whom so ever it matters, the cooks are from Guntur so the Idly that they’ve given here are extremely atomic. I also tried the idlly which is very related to the control style. The fruit custard is what stood out for me. It is one of the fresher omes that I have tried overall in the US and I have tried multiple fruit custards. I am going back here again for the fruitcustards. The Manchurian seemed a little salty, but I think that’s on a personal preference. The chai was on the house. It tasted good and the truck owner. Mr. Venkat was extremely amicable towards us. He’d also have a sample some of the cut mirchi which did stand out, I am...
Read moreWe tried out a new food truck in Irving and, to be honest, we were not disappointed at all. It's a new addition among the many Indian food trucks in DFW, and I must say the food tastes better here compared to other spots. We had veg manchurian, chicken manchurian, ghee kaaram idli, and chicken fried rice.
I would still like to try the rest of the items from their menu. The cooks are great. You can see them and tell the food tastes good here.
The owner, Venkat, was courteous enough to give us a free sample of cut mirchi and bellam chai. Overall, the experience was good. The idli and fried rice were nice, and I ended up getting a take-out order of the fried rice. The Manchurian was okay; the sauce was a little thin and runny. We also ordered fruit custard to go, and we really loved it.
The staff was very...
