La Chancleta de Maíz — Restaurant in Isabela

Evey time I go in a road trip I look for one of these places to eat that I have on my watch list. This time it was La chancleta de Maiz.

I like the fact that its a food truck but it has its own tables and everything. Very good environment and safe place to go with your family. It also has a good parking space in front of it.

We orderd a chicken quesadilla, soft shrimp tacos and soft pork tacos with pico de gallo with mango. Everythig was delicious. The tacos are very well seasoned, jucy and full of flavor especially the shrimp ones. The contrast between the sweetness of the pico de gallo and the saltiness of the shrimp and pork was perfect. My kids loved the quesadilla I had a bite and it was really really good and really big.

The place is not to cheap but not to expensive. If your on the road and want to sit down and chill while eating some great mexican food, this is defenetly the place. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because of the service. The employees were not rude in any way but they seem to lack even the most basic of costumer service skills not even service with a smile 😬. Whent I ask what was the specialty and what was best they just answered "all the menu is the specialty" I get it if everything is good but with a menu this big they should have at least given me a suggestion witch they didn't. Then I ask what are the things that people mostly ordered and the answere was practicaly the same "people order everything" I just stood there in silence a couple of seconds waiting for a suggestion and it was kinda awkward 😄. They were literally closed, but they still amazingly gave us the options avaliable... if we wanted service. We did want food lol. We were super hungry, we all had tacos and burritos. Good service, they were closed, it was our bad, we didn't look up their location hours. It was empty and no music and very little staff, (not their fault, they were literally closed. We greatly appreciate them Still servicing us.) We enjoyed our food, they place was super clean and nice. And we can not thank them enough for still feeding us pass their working hours. (They didn't have too.) Glad they did. It was late, it would have been hard to find another place. I have no pics because we were so hungry, we didn't take pics. We just ate. PS their pique... is real hot pique, like super hot "hot sauce". Oh everyone's food at nachos in there...

Made an order for the family and the food arrive like 15min later which is good except for mine did not arrive I ask after 30 min and the server when to check and said the were heating the meat for the taco birrias. Waited 15 min and asked again, and it was still being prep during all this time. Other people were being served with their food that arrived long after me. It was over an hour. I got tired of waiting and asked for the bill and paid what we received and told them I did want the order no more. The server went to the back and came back and said the order was canceled.
