This is specifically about the location by Great Adventure!! My husband and I have been a fan of Casa De La Tia over in Romeo's Plaza for years. We've ordered from there many times, we've gone in there to eat many times, we've brought our friends and family there to eat. We moved to the other side of town almost 4 years ago, and were so excited that they were going to have one go in over here. We drove past there so many times, to see when they would open, and we're so excited to hear that they were finally open. Today is our wedding anniversary and we decided to choose that restaurant to get food from to celebrate. Especially because we have been waiting for it to open for years. I couldn't find the number for it, so I called the one in Romeo's Plaza and got the phone number. I called there, placed our two meal orders, specifically asked the girl if we were going to get sour cream and salsa with it, and she said yes. She told me 30 minutes. My husband goes to get it and there's no order. They called the other Jackson location, even though I knew I didn't call there, and they said they don't have the order. They said they had no to go orders and that I must have called the wrong place. So he calls me on the phone and I look up in my cell phone record the phone number I called and it was that restaurant. So we decide to get something else. I called the number back and a girl answers the phone, the same one who took my order. So I asked to talk to the manager. I hear her call to someone named Abraham maybe, and as she's passing the phone she said in a extremely mocking voice oh she's mad haha she wants the manager haha. Laughing at me! So he gets on the phone and I say to him oh hi yeah my husband was just there, this is the number I called, it's in my phone records. I called you back, and that girl that just answered is the one that took my order. He could not have cared less. I explained to him how we've been going to this establishment for years, love the one on the other side of town, and purposely picked them to have our wedding anniversary dinner and we're just being mocked on the phone by the girl?! I said I heard what she said and I did not appreciate it, could not believe that this is how they were treating customers. AND he hung up on ME!! So, do yourself a favor and do not visit La Casa de La Tia over by Great Adventure. I don't know if it's any better on the other side of town anymore because we hadn't been there in at least a year. But we will never be going back, especially when they completely lost our order, couldn't have cared less, and then mocked me for calling to question about it. What a shame, I've really been looking forward to going to this restaurant and now I'm done with them. And before anybody bashes me that I should contact the restaurant or whatever, that is exactly what I did and they hung up on me because I called out the employee for mocking me for asking...

We started going to La Casa de la Tía back in 2020… faithful costumers until about 2 months ago. I went with my family (total of 5 adults) and with a 6 week old baby (my first outing since having my baby)… the waitress insisted on seating us on a table for 4 against a wall. I kept on telling her we were 5 and had a big stroller… she still didn’t listen or gave us an option. I do not know what she expected us to do with the newborn and the stroller, there was 1 table for 4 free and I believe 2 tables for 6 available… since she didn’t listen to us, I told my husband we needed to leave and go somewhere else. The waitress still didn’t care and she rather lose the costumers than try to accommodate us (I still don’t know what she expected us to do with the stroller and the newborn)… my husband decided he would never go back… I went back about 2 weeks ago (after 2 months) and spoke about the incident with the owner after finishing our food. The owner justified the waitress and went on speaking about how he allows his waitresses to charge for tip on people’s credit cards if they do not leave good tip because they’re there working and how some people go there with kids and McDonald’s bags… 1. I still don’t know how either of these situation are related to my complaint since I don’t do neither of them… 2. I completely understand waitresses make their money on tips but as per my understanding, tips are costumery but not legally required in NJ so the fact that some clients may be getting charge more than what they are signing their receipt for is concerning… anyways, after speaking to ny husband about my complaint and the owners response, we don’t feel like he took us seriously and that he doesn’t care about their clients. The food is okay, the prices are high, we once went to pay and they had charged more for the guacamole and went I told them that that wasn’t the price on the menu; they said their prices increase and the menus weren’t updated yet (I didn’t argue and paid but that is also false...

I have been coming here since the second day they opened. They food was always fresh hot and delicious. I entered the restaurant tonight with my family. There was one other table inside already eating their food. It took about ten minutes for someone to come over to get drink orders. Then was told he would be right back to take our order about 20 minutes went by before he even returned. Placed our orders waited about an hour for food to come out. The food was just warm not even hot like it was just prepared. They messed up on one order that they remade in five minutes and apparently ran out of rice and tried to rush cooking rice. Nothing worse then crunchy rice. Was very displeased with everything the food quality and service was horrible. We received all of our meals never got silverware had to get up to get another drink on our own. Ask for things to and three times before they were given to us. Upon my entire party leaving and walking out I still waited 10 minutes before I got up and walked up to the counter for a check. I asked to speak to the owner or manager as I have been coming here since the very beginning and wanting to give feedback to them. Upon being told he was to busy to talk to me and deal with a customer that easily spends over $100 every time I come here and being offered free guacamole or churros for the next time I come in. I don’t know how I feel about returning. I was apologized too but I feel that the manager not being able to take 5 minutes to deal with a unhappy customer shows that he really doesn’t care about how his customers feel or are treated. It will probably be a while if I do decide...

I usually don’t take the time to write reviews but today I will. The food is alright for what it is. Use to be great and now it fell off… they don’t accept order over the phone for pick up endless you pay up front with a card on the phone (understandable due to people ordered and never going) it’s annoying but be aware that their “system” charges you twice…. If you don’t catch it I’m sure you’d forget out about and I’m sure they say it’s an accident. But again who knows if this really happens or they bank on people not noticing! Again I’ll give the benefit of the doubt but I don’t recommend paying over the phone. Pay in person or don’t even order if your in a rush! They will not prep your order over the phone if you do not pay for it first. This food is okay, there is other places better than this. Tried it again and now I’m reminded on why I stopped coming when ever I didn’t feel like cooking. They said they will refund me today, let’s see if they do if not then I’ll be heading to the restaurant to collect.

Where do I begin? My family and I were in the mood for a true authentic Mexican cuisine, so we did what everyone does, we used Google to explore a new experience in the area. Boy, did we NOT get what we paid for. Not only is this place outrageously expensive, (probably to pay for the over the top culturally compensating interior design of the dine-in restaurant), but the food is just not right. The chicken, beef, and steak were all boiled. BOILED! There was no charr to the meat, and little to no spices were added. The birrea taco soup was absolutely FLAVORLESS. We ordered tacos, sopes, tostadas, and birrea tacos, and it literally all was soggy and gross. WE SPENT $140 ON THIS FOOD AND IT WAS $20 WORTH OF AN EXPERIENCE. La Casa de la Tia should change their name to La Casa de la Basura. My advice is to go to a food truck instead.

The Best Mexican Food Around Since Mi Mexico Lindo in Toms River Shut Down I love the food here. My girlfriend & I started coming here a few years back & everytime we do, we are SO FULL but still want to eat more. We always get a Torta or Cemita, either Al Pastor or Choriza, so good! The Aguas Frescas are also delicious, my girlfriend's favorite is the Pina one. We always make sure to try something new as well & when we do, it always becomes a new menu favorite of ours. The complimentary chips & salsas are flavorful as well, we especially like their verde salsa. The only knock is that the service can be slow at times when they are busy, but the food is always worth the wait.
